What happened to OG Ranked Zero Build?
Epic’s Fortnite support page says Ranked OG Zero Build was disabled in stages across regions. It lists March 4, 2025, for Brazil, Oceania, the Middle East and Asia, followed by March 25 for the EU and NAC regions. That wording points to matchmaking difficulties, but it does not establish that Epic publicly measured or cited low player counts as the cause. The support information gives no population figures, queue-time data or numerical threshold.
Was all Fortnite OG Ranked removed?
A June 2, 2025 Reddit post reported that the broader Fortnite OG Ranked playlist would be disabled at the end of the then-current season, while OG-focused competitive events would continue to be available. This reported playlist-wide change is distinct from the earlier regional shutdown of OG Ranked Zero Build. The first is documented in Epic support information and concerns Zero Build availability by region; the later, broader change is reported by Reddit and concerns Fortnite OG Ranked. They should not be treated as one announcement or given the same level of certainty.
Does this mean regular Zero Build Ranked is going away?
No such conclusion follows from these OG playlist changes. Epic’s Ranked documentation treats Zero Build as a continuing part of Fortnite’s wider Ranked system, separately from Fortnite OG. Epic lists Ranked Battle Royale, Zero Build, Reload and Reload Zero Build among its ranked experiences. Its support page also says Battle Royale, Zero Build and Reload have separate rank progression, so a rank in one does not affect a rank in another.
Epic’s ranked-mode support page lists tiers from Bronze through Unreal and does not list OG among the ranked modes it describes. How Ranked matchmaking and progression work
Epic describes Ranked as a system that assigns a rank reflecting a player’s abilities. Ranked lobbies are curated using a player’s current rank or, for a team, the highest-ranked member. Epic says progression or regression can take several factors into account:
- Final match placement
- Eliminations
- The skill of opponents
- Damage dealt compared with damage taken
- How far the match progresses through the storm circles
These mechanics provide context for why matchmaking health matters, but Epic has not published a player-count figure or threshold for the OG Zero Build change.
