Rockstar and Take-Two currently list PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That does not prove a Switch 2 port is technically impossible or will never happen; it means the platform remains unconfirmed in the official information available as of October 8, 2026.
Is GTA 6 coming to Nintendo Switch 2?
Not according to the official platform information currently available. Rockstar’s platforms, editions, and versions page, updated August 18, 2026, lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 pre-order announcement names the same platforms. Neither source lists Nintendo Switch 2.

Those listings establish what has been announced in those materials, not a permanent guarantee that no other version will follow. No reviewed official source confirms a Switch 2 edition, a port in development, or internal hardware testing. The official GTA VI page likewise does not establish a Switch 2 release.
Could Switch 2 run GTA 6?
The available sources do not settle that technical question. They provide no Switch 2 performance figures, test results, or confirmation that Rockstar has evaluated the game on the hardware. So “not announced” is supportable; “can’t run” is not.

A Switch 2 port, if one were made, would involve adapting the game for a different platform. GamesRadar+ reported on September 25, 2026 that former Rockstar open-world designer Jérémy Hartvick, who worked on GTA 6 from 2017 to 2020, thought substantial optimization would be needed. That is his reported view, not a Rockstar statement, a benchmark, or proof of technical limits.
Why a port might—or might not—make business sense
Hartvick also questioned whether a Switch 2 release would make commercial sense, saying: “I don’t believe it even makes sense, because I’m not sure the audience for GTA 6 is so much the audience for the Switch,” according to GamesRadar+’s September 25 report. He added: “If you’re a GTA fan, you would probably buy a console on which GTA will come out.”

These are one former developer’s opinions about audience and porting effort. They do not reveal Rockstar’s plans or establish that a release would be unprofitable. Technical feasibility, the work required to adapt a game, and a publisher’s decision to release it are separate questions.
What is confirmed for launch?
Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement gave November 19, 2026 as the launch date and $79.99 as the standard price for the listed PS5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Those are facts from that dated announcement, not a guarantee against later changes. Rockstar says the physical edition is a box with a digital download code; it does not include a disc.

What Switch 2 owners should do
If you want to play GTA VI at launch, the platforms identified in the official announcements are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A listing or rumor about Switch 2 should not be treated as proof of compatibility or a confirmed port unless Rockstar or Take-Two announces it. The official platform information may change, so check Rockstar’s support page or Take-Two announcements for confirmation.
