Not officially. A May 2025 report relayed an insider rumor that Rockstar was working on an updated GTA IV port, but neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed a new edition. Is GTA IV coming to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S? No new version for those consoles has been announced. What is Rockstar releasing before GTA 6? Nothing has been confirmed as the next release; Take-Two’s current schedule lists GTA VI for November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Where the GTA IV remaster rumor came from
HotHardware reported on May 13, 2025, that Rockstar insider Tez2 had posted on GTAForums that a source inside Rockstar hinted an updated and enhanced GTA IV port was in development. That is secondhand reporting about an unnamed source—not an announcement from Rockstar or Take-Two. HotHardware itself framed the project as a possibility, not a confirmed release. The report also speculated that the game could arrive in 2025 or early 2026. Those windows have passed, and they were never confirmed launch dates. Their passage does not establish whether the reported project exists.
What Rockstar and Take-Two have confirmed
GTA VI has an official date; GTA IV does not
Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement schedules Grand Theft Auto VI for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement establishes GTA VI’s current release schedule; it does not say that a GTA IV remaster is in development or identify another Rockstar game as the next release. See Take-Two’s announcement.

Rockstar’s catalog lists an existing GTA IV edition
Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto collection includes GTA IV: Complete Edition alongside the original GTA Trilogy, its Definitive Edition, GTA V, and GTA VI marked coming soon. The catalog entry is an existing Rockstar Games Launcher product, not evidence of a newly announced remaster. The catalog viewed on October 8, 2026 was regional and displayed CHF pricing. What a new GTA IV version might—or might not—include
The rumor does not establish the project’s exact format: “updated and enhanced port” is the reported description, not an official product name or specification. It also provides no confirmed platforms, release window, visual upgrades, quality-of-life changes, or soundtrack details.
Rank #2
HotHardware discussed possible improvements and argued that a remaster should restore music removed after licenses expired. Those are the outlet’s expectations, not confirmed features. There is no basis to say a new version is planned to restore the soundtrack—or that a new version is in development at all.

- Features: Are graphics, quality-of-life changes, and soundtrack licensing stated by the publisher?
- New release or existing listing: Is the item a newly announced product, or an edition already in Rockstar’s catalog?
