But cross-platform play does not mean account portability: your account is tied to the storefront where you created it.
What “cross-platform” means in Guild Wars 2
Here, cross-platform means players connecting through different PC storefronts can share the game world. ArenaNet says players using its website client, Steam, and Epic Games can play together. It does not mean you can move one account between storefronts, or that the game supports cross-play between PC and consoles.

ArenaNet’s Steam FAQ confirms that website and Steam players use the same servers and can play together. Its Epic Games FAQ says players connecting through ArenaNet, Steam, and Epic access the same game world.
Can you use the same account on Steam, Epic, and ArenaNet?
No. Playing together is separate from logging in: each storefront has its own account rules, and your progress does not transfer between these account systems.

- ArenaNet and Steam: An account created on the Guild Wars 2 website cannot be used to log into the Steam client, and a Steam-created account cannot be used to log into the website client. The accounts can still play together.
- Epic Games: Epic accounts cannot be linked to or transferred to ArenaNet or Steam accounts. Epic players can still play in the same world as those players.
If you are deciding where to start, choose the storefront you intend to keep using. A friend’s storefront does not prevent you from playing together, but it does not make your accounts interchangeable.
Which operating systems are supported?
The documented client options vary by storefront. ArenaNet’s account-management page lists Windows 32-bit and 64-bit clients and a 64-bit macOS client. The Steam FAQ lists Windows 64-bit only, and the Epic FAQ specifies Windows 64-bit.

These platform details are listed by ArenaNet in Managing Your ArenaNet Account and the Steam and Epic FAQs. The official pages reviewed document PC client access, including a macOS client for ArenaNet accounts; they do not establish a console version.
Do regions affect playing together?
Storefront and server region are different questions. ArenaNet says North American and European players can play and switch between servers in either region. Guild Wars 2 China connects to its own datacenter and servers, so the North America/Europe guidance should not be assumed to cover China. See ArenaNet’s FAQ: Game Regions.

Do purchases and expansions carry across storefronts?
Account restrictions also affect buying expansions: ArenaNet says expansions for a Steam account must be purchased through Steam. Editions, bundles, promotions, and prices can differ between storefronts, so check the relevant live listing rather than relying on a price or availability from another store.
