Yes—but not every connection means the games share one continuous timeline. Goichi “Suda51” Suda explicitly confirmed that Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes connects to The Silver Case, and said The 25th Ward: The Silver Case helps explain how. Elsewhere, Suda’s games share characters and references, or influence one another creatively; those are different kinds of connection.
What is the clearest confirmed story connection?
It runs through Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. In a 2018 interview, Suda was asked about its relationship to The Silver Case and answered, “Yes, they are connected. If you play The 25th Ward, you’ll understand the connection.” Gematsu’s April 9, 2018 interview is the clearest direct confirmation.
That statement establishes a connection between those games, but it does not establish that The Silver Case or The 25th Ward is required to follow the central No More Heroes story. Suda specifically pointed to The 25th Ward as context for understanding the link.
How are the other connections different?
Recurring characters and cross-game references
Suda has described reusing characters in different works and roles, comparing the practice to Osamu Tezuka’s Star System. In a 2017 interview, he explained that a character can function like an actor playing different parts; a familiar character appearing in another game therefore does not, by itself, prove that both stories occupy the same timeline. Game Informer’s interview with Suda discusses this approach.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
There are also specific cross-game references. Discussing No More Heroes 3, Suda described a connection involving Midori and Fleming from Shadows of the Damned. That is evidence of a character or reference crossover, not a blanket confirmation of shared continuity across his games. Siliconera’s interview about No More Heroes 3 covers the discussion.
Creative influence
Suda described No More Heroes as a reaction to Killer7, including a deliberate shift in setting and atmosphere. That tells us about the creative relationship between the games, not a plot connection. As he put it, “Everything within No More Heroes is a reaction to Killer7, even to the setting itself, which is some kind of West Coast, good-times atmosphere.” The Game Informer interview records the comment.

What should you play to follow the connection?
If you want to explore the story link Suda explicitly identified, look to Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, The Silver Case, and The 25th Ward: The Silver Case. Suda singled out The 25th Ward as the game that helps explain the connection; the available interview does not say you must play either Silver Case game to understand the main No More Heroes story. Nintendo Life’s 2018 interview and Source Gaming’s May 16, 2018 interview also discuss Travis Strikes Again and its context.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does this mean every Suda51 game shares one canon?
No such broad conclusion is established by these creator comments. The evidence supports several distinct relationships: an explicitly confirmed story connection involving Travis Strikes Again and The Silver Case; reused characters and references in other games; and creative influence, such as Killer7 shaping No More Heroes. Treating all three as proof of one unified timeline goes beyond what Suda’s statements confirm.

Ownership is a separate practical issue, not a canon test. Suda has said No More Heroes is mainly owned by Marvelous, while The Silver Case and Flower, Sun, and Rain are Grasshopper-owned. Rights can affect whether a crossover is possible, but they do not determine whether two stories are connected.
