Is Palworld itself a dating sim?
No. The main Palworld and Pal♡world! ~More Than Just Pals~ are distinct titles. Pocketpair announced the latter as a school romance simulation, not as a dating mode added to the survival game.
The project began with an April Fools-style announcement on March 31, 2024. Pocketpair later announced a Steam store page on March 31, 2025, and its April 1, 2026 post continued to describe it as the company’s Palworld dating sim. Those announcements establish that the concept went beyond the initial tease; they do not establish that the game has launched.
Can you play the Palworld dating sim yet?
No. As of October 7, 2026, Steam lists Pal♡world! ~More Than Just Pals~ as not yet available, with its release date marked “To be announced.” The original announcement’s planned April 1, 2025 date was a plan at the time, not the game’s current release date. Steam identifies Pocketpair as both developer and publisher and describes the listed experience as single-player. The store page gives Windows 10 64-bit as a requirement and lists English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese interface and subtitle support; these specifications may change before release. A current price and final feature list are not established on the information available.
What is the dating sim about?
Steam’s announced premise puts the player in the role of a transfer student at Private Palpagos Academy. Players can get to know Pals, deepen relationships through conversation, and potentially become lovers. The page also foregrounds the franchise’s macabre humor, including a reference to dismantling and eating Pals, and warns that horror elements are present.
That is the official store-page description, not a report from a released game. Steam’s user-defined tags include labels such as Dating Sim, Visual Novel, Romance, Psychological Horror, and Multiple Endings, but community tags should not be treated as confirmation of specific mechanics.

The word “spin-off” depends partly on how Pocketpair describes its projects. In GamesRadar+’s October 6, 2026 report, Pocketpair head of communications and publishing John “Bucky” Buckley said he would consider Palfarm the “true spin-off” and called More Than Just Pals “just a little goofy thing.” That is Buckley’s reported framing of the two projects, not an announcement that the dating sim is cancelled.
The distinction is useful for players: More Than Just Pals is framed around school romance, while Palfarm is presented as a farming and life-simulation project. Buckley’s comment indicates which one he considers the more formal spin-off; it does not establish either project’s budget, team size, or final scope.
