Does ReSkate require an EA account?
There are two different questions: what ReSkate says its offline mode needs, and what EA requires for its own game services and license checks. They should not be treated as interchangeable.

So the careful answer is: ReSkate claims offline play does not need EA servers, but its documentation does not clearly establish that an EA account is never needed for every setup. The official EA account and internet requirements still apply to EA’s own app authentication and official service.
What safety and privacy risks should you consider?
Crash reporting
ReSkate says that when the launcher or game crashes, it uploads a minidump and that session’s log to the project’s Backtrace account. The project says the log does not contain a Steam password or login name. These are the project’s disclosures, not an independent verification of what its software collects or uploads.

To disable crash reporting, either untick Send crash reports in Launcher Settings > Advanced, or set the environment variable RESKATE_CRASH_REPORTING=0. ReSkate README
Mods and custom scripts
ReSkate supports community mods. The project warns that mods change game data and that custom scripts can run code, so treat each mod as a separate trust decision and install only ones you trust. That warning does not show that any particular mod is malicious. ReSkate README

Protect your accounts
EA advises players not to share credentials and warns that sharing Skate account information risks account theft and loss of content. Get ReSkate from its project release source, keep Steam and EA passwords private, and be cautious about the sources of mods you install. EA skate. rules

EA’s User Agreement defines an “Unauthorized Third-Party Program” to include certain add-ons, mods, hacks, trainers, or cheats that EA believes facilitate cheating, modify or bypass the game experience without authorization, or collect information from EA services. This language does not show that EA has classified every ReSkate feature as prohibited, guarantee that every user will be banned, or make ReSkate officially approved. It does mean users should not assume that the project’s unofficial status or open-source license settles how EA’s terms apply to their use.

What to check before using ReSkate
- Confirm you have your own Steam copy of skate., as the project says is required.
- Decide whether to disable crash reporting using the launcher setting or environment variable above.
- Review each mod’s source and permissions; custom scripts can execute code.
- Keep your Steam and EA credentials private, and do not assume ReSkate’s offline mode means no EA account is needed in every installation path.
- Read the current ReSkate README and EA User Agreement before installing, since project documentation and EA terms can change.
