EC Digital said an Epic Games Store build had gone live unintentionally, described the Steam page as a placeholder, and paused the project over licensing and technical matters. The storefront listings were removed. As of the later Steam community update dated April 9, 2026, the page was delisted; the available reporting does not confirm an authorized return.
Which Scarface game was supposed to return?
The announcement concerned Scarface: The World Is Yours, Radical Entertainment’s 2006 open-world action-adventure game. It imagines Tony Montana surviving the ending of the 1983 film and rebuilding his criminal empire. It was not an announcement of a new sequel or a confirmed remake. The game originally launched on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC in 2006, then Wii in 2007. Gematsu’s October 22, 2025 report covers the proposed PC return and the game’s platform history.

What happened to the PC re-release?
The events unfolded over two days in October 2025, followed by a later Steam community status update:
- October 22, 2025: EC Digital announced plans to re-release the PC game through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Gematsu reported that the Epic listing briefly showed a price of $29.99. That was the historical listing price for the build that appeared that day, not a current price or proof of a continuing sale.
- October 22: EC Digital said the Epic build had been pushed live unintentionally because of a backend configuration problem. It called the Steam page a placeholder and said licensing and technical matters were still under discussion. In its Steam Community notice, the company wrote: “The current page was initially intended as a placeholder while we worked through ongoing licensing and technical matters.” It added: “Unfortunately, the unintended release of certain builds on other platforms caused unexpected complications and concerns.”
- October 22–23: EC Digital said it was coordinating with Valve to hide the Steam page and had paused the project. PC Gamer reported that the Steam and Epic listings had disappeared by October 23. PC Gamer’s October 23 update describes the removals.
- April 9, 2026: A later Steam Community update said the store page had been delisted. That update records the page’s status; it does not announce an approved return. Steam Community updates for the game include the delisting notice.
EC Digital said it would provide news if circumstances changed and it could bring the project back. Its notice said: “If things change and we’re able to bring the project back in the future, we’ll let you know right away.” No later approved release date is established by the sources cited here.

Was the re-release official?
EC Digital announced the project, but the available reporting does not confirm that the necessary rights had been secured. Gematsu said it had asked Universal Pictures about authorization; the reviewed coverage does not include an answer. That leaves the status unresolved: it would be inaccurate to present the release as confirmed authorized, and the available evidence also does not establish that it was unauthorized or a scam. For context, see GameSpot’s October 22, 2025 coverage.
What was the proposed HD graphics mode?
EC Digital described an optional HD graphics mode, planned as free downloadable content, that would use AI-assisted techniques to improve some visual elements and could be switched off. That was a description of a proposed feature, not evidence of a finished or released remaster. With the project paused and its store listings removed, the available sources do not establish that the mode was completed.

What did reporting say about community patches?
PC Gamer reported that the early Epic build appeared to include SilentPatch and Fusion Fix, community-made modifications. Silent, the creator of SilentPatch, told PC Gamer: “This release reportedly ships SilentPatch and Fusion Fix, and none of us were contacted about this in advance (which isn’t necessary as per the license, but would be nice).” PC Gamer later reported that the creator had been contacted, but EC Digital had not confirmed the build with them before it went live. This is reporting about the early build, not an independent verification of its contents or confirmation that a completed edition was authorized.
