In practice, the set suits players who recognize enemy attack timing and continue applying melee pressure through it. The perks are less directly useful if most of your damage comes from ranged or Runic attacks, because their stated triggers are tied to hitting during enemy attacks and to basic attacks and skills.
Is it worth the Muspelheim challenges?
For a melee build, the rewards are compelling: the cuirass offers offensive Strength alongside Defense and Vitality, and the arm and girdle add more Strength with further Vitality and, on the girdle, Defense. The pieces are earned from three named Crucible challenges.

- You prefer protection that does not depend on attacking, or you avoid trading blows.
- You want a universal ranking: no controlled damage comparison or evidence establishes Surtr’s set as best for every build.
When comparing sets, focus on what activates their perks, whether those conditions fit your combat habits, the risk they mitigate, and whether their stats support your chosen damage style.
