Yes—Tap Force is free to download, but it offers optional in-game purchases. You can earn virtual items as well as buy them, and some purchases may speed progression or bypass certain restrictions. Available evidence does not establish that spending is required to finish the game, or how quickly a free player can progress.
What “free to play” means in Tap Force
Race Cat describes Tap Force as an auto-battle RPG built around recruiting and training pixel fighters, running weapon shops that continue operating while you are offline, and battling other players. The US Apple App Store lists it as “Free · In-App Purchases.” That means there is no listed upfront download price on that storefront, not that every item or offer is free.
The US App Store flags loot boxes and shows examples of paid offers. The developer’s terms say virtual currency and virtual goods, including loot boxes, may be earned or purchased. These terms describe Race Cat games and virtual items generally; they do not establish that every item currently sold in Tap Force has every possible effect mentioned in the terms.
What purchases may do—and what is not established
Race Cat’s Terms & Conditions state: “Virtual Items can be ‘purchased’ or ‘earned’ in our Games.” The terms also describe possible benefits such as enhancing status, moving up a level, completing a game more quickly, or bypassing some restrictions. This is a broad description, not proof that a particular Tap Force offer provides each benefit.

The sources do not say that buying items is necessary to complete Tap Force. They also do not establish that free and paying players progress at the same pace, or that all content is equally accessible without spending.

Can you progress without spending?
Player reports are mixed, and they are not controlled tests or official guarantees. A Google Play review dated 3 August 2026 says the reviewer encountered no paywall stopping advancement; other App Store and Google Play reviews describe waiting, difficulty, or payment pressure in some events. Individual accounts cannot establish how long progression takes for everyone or whether every mode is fair to free players.
Google Play describes Tap Force as a role-playing game with single-player and competitive multiplayer elements. Its listing says the game was updated on 1 September 2026. For your own decision, consider where you expect to spend time:
