For newer players and people who mostly play solo, the Acid Lab is generally worth unlocking if you plan to install the equipment upgrade. The upgraded lab has a higher reported full-stock sale value, while the upgrade requires ten Dax Fooligan Jobs and a one-time GTA$250,000 payment. If you need cash immediately or don’t want to run those jobs, it’s reasonable to use the base lab or postpone the upgrade.
What you get with the Acid Lab
The Acid Lab is a mobile business housed in the MTL Brickade 6×6. Rockstar describes its basic loop as sourcing supplies through missions, converting those supplies into Acid product over time, then selling the stock in a mission. Rockstar’s Title Update 1.64 notes establish those mechanics, but do not make a profitability claim.

How to unlock and install it
- Complete the six First Dose missions. Rockstar’s Los Santos Drug Wars announcement describes the First Dose route and the Acid Lab unlock.
- Acquire the lab equipment and install the business in the Brickade 6×6.
- Check the amount Mutt displays in-game before paying. Current guides report an installation cost of GTA$750,000 after the First Dose route, but that price is not confirmed in the cited official material and temporary offers may change it. Base lab versus equipment upgrade
Current secondary references report the following in-game values. They are guide figures, not a guaranteed hourly income: the Acid Lab converts supplies into stock over time, and you still have to complete a sale mission.

Values and timing are reported by GTA Wiki contributors; the upgrade cost and job requirement are also covered by the Fooligan Jobs reference and ViceSix. These are GTA$ amounts within GTA Online, not real-world earnings or independently tested results. Check the current in-game requirements and sale estimate before making a purchase decision.

What the upgrade changes about the decision
The reported difference between a full base batch and a full upgraded batch is GTA$97,600. That is a difference in full-stock sale value, not a measure of profit per hour: it does not account for your setup time, supply costs, production time, or the time and outcome of a sale mission. The upgrade also costs money up front, so its value depends on how often you expect to produce and sell stock.
The ten Fooligan Jobs are separate from the First Dose missions. They are setup work for the equipment upgrade, not a shortcut included in the initial unlock. Secondary references report a cooldown between successful jobs, so expect the upgrade to take multiple sessions rather than assuming you can complete all ten back-to-back. Production settings and sale value
Reference pages describe a production boost that is limited to once per day and a product-name setting that can increase sale value. Those mechanics can affect the time to fill stock or the payout, but the cited sources do not establish a single guaranteed maximum for every player and session. Check the Acid Lab’s current in-game options and sale estimate when deciding whether to sell; don’t treat a guide’s full-stock figure as a universal payout.

- Worth pursuing: You’re building a business portfolio, can complete the First Dose missions, and are willing to work through the Fooligan Jobs for the upgraded lab. Its production can run while you do other activities, and the reported upgraded full-stock value is higher than the base figure.
- Consider waiting on the upgrade: You dislike the Fooligan Jobs, need immediate cash, or would rather spend your time on other activities. The base lab still operates, but its reported full-stock value is lower.
- Decide based on your own routine: Whether the business fits depends on the time you spend unlocking and upgrading it, whether you use production downtime productively, and whether you’re comfortable running its sale missions.
The available figures support a conditional recommendation, not a claim that the Acid Lab is GTA Online’s best business. They also do not establish a named, published statistic that ranks its profitability against other businesses.
