Sometimes—but there is no evidence that players have broadly “admitted” the Expedition is worth it. Some enjoy the fresh-start loop; others find rebuilding their Raider and repeating quests too costly. More importantly, Embark says Expedition Five was the last Expedition until early 2027, while it reworks the system. So this is a decision to revisit when the new rules arrive, not a reset you can assume is available now.
What an Expedition reset does
Embark’s original design made the Expedition Project available at Raider level 20. Completing it opened the option to depart and reset Raider-specific progress. That included levels, skills, inventory, workshop, and crafting capability. Cosmetics, awards, achievements, rankings, and other metagame or real-money-linked progress were to remain.
The original plan described a cycle of roughly eight weeks, with a window to finalize a departure; unfinished project progress would carry over. Those were launch-era design details, not a reliable schedule or a universal description of later cycles. Embark framed departure as voluntary: players who wanted a fresh run could take one, while others could keep progressing with their current Raider. Embark’s original Expedition design post
Why the rules for a particular cycle matter
The incentives have changed, so past rewards do not tell you what a future Expedition will offer.

- ARC Raiders Deluxe Edition includes the base game and the following content: The Wanderer Set, including the following cosmetic items: “Valente” Outfit" “Pathfinder” Backpack,“Blanket Roll” Backpack Attachment.
- Plus: Character Cosmetic, Finger Gun Rapid Fire Emote, Cowboy Scrappy Body Type and Skin, 2 400 Raider Tokens.
Expedition Two: Skill Points and carryover incentives
For Expedition Two, Embark set a target of 3 million Coins in stash value for five Skill Points, reducing the earlier target. It also added catch-up Skill Points for missed earlier rewards and described permanent bonuses alongside temporary buffs that could stack for consecutive departures. These were cycle-specific terms, not standing rules. Embark’s Expedition Two announcement
Expedition Four: a different reward format
Expedition Four used a damage-threshold challenge that awarded Blueprints and Raider Tokens rather than Skill Points. Embark described those Blueprints as temporary: they would be reset on the next departure. Why some players find it worthwhile
The strongest case is that starting over can make familiar activities feel fresh again. PC Gamer senior guides writer Sean Martin described changing his mind after departing: he said the reset reignited his interest, made looting exciting, and let him progress faster because he already understood the game. He also said he wanted to do future Expeditions. That is one writer’s firsthand experience, not a survey of the player base. PC Gamer’s first-person account
For players who enjoy rebuilding, cycle rewards can add another reason to leave. But the reward mix has varied, and some incentives are temporary. The value depends on what Embark offers in that specific cycle and whether those rewards matter to you.

Why other players would rather keep their Raider
Leaving means giving up progress that can take time to rebuild, including skills, gear, workshop development, and crafting capability. Repeating quests and reacquiring Blueprints can feel like work rather than a new challenge, particularly if you have limited time or want to enjoy a completed skill tree.
Community comments illustrate the split, but cannot establish how common either view is. In a June 2026 Reddit discussion, one player who had completed three Expeditions said they would skip a fourth, pointing to repeated quests, Blueprint acquisition, and limited time to enjoy a completed skill tree. A September 2026 post from someone who had done every Expedition praised benefits such as stash space and a repair buff, but also found later rewards less compelling, criticized quest repetition, and welcomed the pause. Replies raised concerns about late starters and catch-up options. These are individual accounts, not representative player statistics. June 2026 player discussion · September 2026 player discussion

Embark’s design director Virgil Watkins also acknowledged that the original currency target had overshot how much players felt compelled to engage. In a February 2026 PC Gamer interview, he called the system an experiment and said the team wanted it to engage more game loops than stash value alone. He described departure as optional for players who want to repeat the loop. PC Gamer’s interview with Virgil Watkins

Embark said Expedition Five would be the last until early 2027, when Expeditions are expected to return with major improvements. The studio cited concerns about tight departure windows, rewards, and access for new players. For Expedition Five, it also made the quest reset opt-in. Early 2027 is Embark’s stated plan, not a guaranteed date, and the announcement does not establish what the redesigned requirements or rewards will be. Embark’s Expedition Five announcement

A practical way to decide when Expeditions return
When Embark publishes the next cycle’s terms, compare these factors before committing:
- Progress at stake: Identify which levels, skills, gear, inventory, workshop upgrades, and crafting capabilities the departure would reset.
- Rewards offered: Separate permanent unlocks from temporary rewards or buffs, and check the exact requirements for that cycle.
- Time and repetition: Consider the project contributions, departure window, challenge requirements, and whether quests must be repeated or can be retained.
- Your preferred loop: A fresh progression run may be energizing if you enjoy looting and rebuilding; reacquiring Blueprints and repeating quests may instead feel tedious.
The reset is a reasonable choice for players who enjoy starting over and value that cycle’s rewards. If preserving a well-developed Raider matters more, skipping is equally valid; Embark designed departure as optional, not as a required way to keep playing.
