It depends on what you want from an open world. The Crew Motorfest is much smaller in free-roam scale than The Crew and The Crew 2, so it may feel too small if you want long cross-country drives. Its more compact island setting offers a different trade-off: varied roads, environments, and activities in a denser, curated space. The map has also grown since launch, with Maui added and Kauai now listed as a free Year 4 island.
How big is The Crew Motorfest’s map?
At launch, The Crew Motorfest focused on Oʻahu in Hawaii rather than recreating the entire United States. Ubisoft’s launch guide describes exploring the island by car, boat, and plane, with activities across city, volcano, rainforest, and beach environments.

There is no official current map-area figure in square miles or square kilometers established by the cited sources. The most useful scale comparison is therefore an attributed travel-time estimate, not a precise area measurement: Charlie INTEL estimated in 2023 that a coast-to-coast drive takes about 10 minutes in Motorfest, compared with around an hour in the earlier games. The outlet noted that speed and driving skill affect those times.
How does it compare with The Crew and The Crew 2?
For uninterrupted free-roam distance, Motorfest is a substantial step down from the coast-to-coast scale of The Crew and The Crew 2. If the appeal of those games was spending a long time driving across a huge continuous map, Motorfest is likely to feel small.

That comparison describes scale, not necessarily how much there is to do. Motorfest’s island layout emphasizes connected routes and distinct settings rather than a continental journey. Goodwood’s closed-beta hands-on report describes highways, mountain roads, perimeter routes, towns, and Honolulu as parts of a planned network. It also characterizes the smaller footprint as a trade-off involving visual detail and production demands; those are editorial impressions from a 2023 beta, not a current measured comparison.
Which islands are included now?
The map has expanded beyond its launch setting. Ubisoft said the full island of Maui would make the map 50% bigger when it announced the Year 2 addition. That figure describes the increase Ubisoft stated for Maui at the time; it is not a measurement of the current map after subsequent updates.

Ubisoft’s current game page identifies Kauai as a new free island in Year 4. Season 11 patch notes dated October 7, 2026 also refer to a new island and new Grand Race paths. The available official information does not state the combined current land area, so the 50% Maui figure should not be treated as a total-map statistic.

| If you value… | What Motorfest offers |
|---|---|
| Long, continuous drives | Less free-roam distance than the earlier numbered games; Charlie INTEL’s 2023 coast-to-coast estimate is about 10 minutes, with speed and skill affecting the time. |
| Different landscapes and routes | Island environments and activities spanning city, volcano, rainforest, and beach settings, plus highways, mountain roads, perimeter routes, and settlements. |
| A sense of a huge continental world | Not the same kind of scale as The Crew or The Crew 2. |
| A curated setting that connects activities | A more compact island map whose roads and environments are arranged as a connected network; whether that feels dense or restrictive is a matter of preference. |
In short, “too small” is a fair criticism if map size means sheer driving distance. It is less decisive if you care more about route variety and distinct island environments than about crossing a vast landmass.
