PC Gamer reported the 1 TB PNY CS2241 at Amazon for $135.99, down from $159.99, on October 6, 2026—about $0.13 per GB by the publication’s calculation. That makes it a value-oriented option for expanding game storage, but the offer is a dated report, not a confirmation of today’s price or stock. Check PC Gamer’s deal report and verify the live listing before buying.
What SSD is the deal about?
The offer concerns the 1 TB PNY CS2241, an internal M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD. It is not an external drive, and it will fit only systems with a compatible M.2 2280 slot that supports NVMe. PNY lists desktops, laptops, and handheld gaming devices as suitable categories, but compatibility depends on the specific device. PNY’s CS2241 product page provides the manufacturer’s product details.
Is the reported Prime Day price good value?
PC Gamer’s October 6, 2026 report put the 1 TB model at $135.99, reduced from $159.99, and described the deal as roughly $0.13 per GB. Those are the article’s reported Amazon price and calculation; they do not establish the current listing price, stock, Prime eligibility, or delivery terms. Check the price at checkout and compare it with other 1 TB drives available to you before treating it as a bargain.
PC Gamer called it “easily the most affordable 1 TB NVMe SSD I would recommend right now.” That is the author’s dated editorial judgment, not a market-wide ranking or a guarantee the drive remains the cheapest option.

What performance should you expect?
PNY rates the CS2241 for maximum sequential speeds of 5,100 MB/s read and 3,200 MB/s write. These are manufacturer specifications, not guaranteed sustained speeds: PNY says actual performance varies with the host device, settings, configuration, operating system, and applications. Sequential ratings alone do not tell you how a drive will perform in every game or workload.
For comparison, PC Gamer’s deal article cites the Biwin Black Opal NV7400 at 7,400 MB/s read and 6,500 MB/s write, positioning the Biwin as faster. That is the article’s comparison, not an independently verified head-to-head test. The practical choice depends on current prices and whether your workload benefits from the higher rated speeds.

Will it work in your gaming PC, laptop, or handheld?
Before ordering, confirm the device has an available M.2 2280 slot and supports NVMe PCIe storage. The CS2241’s M.2 2280 form factor and Gen4 x4 interface are useful identifiers when checking the device manual or manufacturer specifications. A matching physical size alone is not enough if the slot does not support NVMe; likewise, consult the device maker for its supported drive sizes and installation requirements.

PNY lists a five-year limited warranty or TBW for the CS2241. The warranty PDF includes the CS2241, M.2 2280, and 1 TB configuration; terms may vary by region, so check the applicable conditions with PNY before relying on a specific coverage period or endurance limit. Who should consider buying it?
- Consider it if you need compatible internal space for a growing game library or other files and the live price compares well with alternatives.
- Compare faster drives if your work depends on higher sequential transfer ratings or you regularly move large files; the reported Biwin comparison has higher manufacturer-style speed figures, though the cited comparison is not a head-to-head test.
- Pause before buying if you have not confirmed an available NVMe-compatible M.2 2280 slot, or if the current price no longer resembles the dated deal report.
