Yes. Microsoft now lists a white Xbox Series X – 1TB Digital Edition, and it has no disc drive: it plays digital games only, not physical discs. The 2024 leak showed images of a similar white, disc-free console, but it was not an official announcement. The retail model is also distinct from the earlier leaked Brooklin plan.
What is the white Xbox Series X?
Microsoft’s official listing identifies the console as the Xbox Series X – 1TB Digital Edition (White), in Robot White. It is a retail digital-only Series X, not merely an image from a leak.

Microsoft’s product disclosure says: “Use with digital games only; console does not play physical discs.” The product FAQ likewise confirms there is no disc drive. That means you cannot insert a game disc or use a physical disc as the license to play a game on this model.

What did the 2024 leak actually confirm?
On March 28, 2024, GameSpot reported leaked images of a white Xbox Series X that looked similar to the then-current console but lacked a disc drive. At the time, Microsoft had not commented on the images. The leak was evidence that such a design had surfaced, not an official confirmation of a product launch, final specifications, price, or availability. Microsoft’s current listing independently establishes that a white digital Series X is a real retail product.

Is this the Brooklin console from the earlier leak?
Not necessarily, and the reported Brooklin specifications should not be assigned to the white retail model. Axios reported in September 2023 on Microsoft planning documents dated May 2022 describing Brooklin as a proposed all-digital Series X refresh with 2TB storage and a $499 target price. Axios cautioned that Microsoft’s plans might have changed.
The white model Microsoft lists has 1TB of storage. The Brooklin capacity and target price were leaked planning details, not confirmed specifications or pricing for this console.

Adding game storage
Microsoft says standalone hard drives are compatible. It recommends the Seagate Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S for additional game storage through the console’s dedicated expansion port. A standard external drive and the expansion card are different options; Microsoft’s recommendation does not mean a generic drive provides the same performance.
