What is The Witcher 3 Remastered’s Metascore?
The Ruling Desk reported on September 30, 2026 that the PC version had a Metascore of 94 based on 10 critic reviews. It said that score tied Sektori for the top position on Metacritic’s 2026 list. Metacritic’s annual-ranking page, captured on October 5, shows Sektori first at 94 but does not show the remaster among its visible leading entries. Is it officially the best-reviewed game of 2026?
No final or official year-end winner is established by these figures. The defensible claim is narrower: a September 30 report placed the remaster’s PC version in a tie for the highest Metascore on Metacritic’s 2026 list, at that point and on a 10-review sample. A tie is not an outright lead, and both the score and ranking can change as reviews are added. The September report also said the PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch 2 versions did not yet have enough reviews to receive Metascores.

So “best-reviewed” needs a date, platform, review count, and metric attached to it. It refers here to a critic Metascore, not player ratings, sales, awards, or a final judgment on the year’s games.
What is included in the remaster upgrade?
The remaster launched on September 29, 2026. CD PROJEKT RED says it is a free upgrade for eligible owners on supported platform ecosystems, including owners of physical copies; eligibility and installation depend on the platform and entitlement, so check the official announcement for the applicable details. The two story expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, are included with the remaster upgrade, even for eligible owners who previously had only the base game. The studio also lists the game for purchase on Battle.net and Microsoft Store, with the Microsoft Store release designated an Xbox Play Anywhere title. New buyers should check platform compatibility and the current listing; eligible existing owners should verify their upgrade entitlement before paying for another copy.

The skill system has been reorganized as a tree with three ranks per skill. Because of the redesign, skill points were reset. Untracked quests now have distinct markers, making them easier to distinguish while navigating the quest list and map.
Bard’s Ballad accessibility preset
Bard’s Ballad is an accessibility preset. CD PROJEKT RED says it is “designed to reduce cognitive load for players who experience mental fatigue or have difficulty concentrating.” The studio presents it as an option for those players, not a requirement for everyone.

PC rendering options
On PC, the patch notes list path tracing and support for NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Ray Reconstruction, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 2.0. Availability and results depend on supported hardware and settings; the feature list is not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or image quality.
PS5 Pro modes
CD PROJEKT RED says the PS5 Pro ray-tracing mode targets 60 frames per second, while its performance mode can reach up to 90 frames per second with variable refresh rate (VRR). These are the studio’s stated targets, not independently measured results. CD PROJEKT RED Press Center.

The September roundup describes reviewers as praising the remaster’s visuals and lighting, while some still point to dated combat or movement. Those are reported critical reactions, not a firsthand assessment here. The small PC sample noted in the score report and the lack of Metascores for the other listed platforms at that point are important context when interpreting the early response.
