Yes. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has a free demo, and SEGA says demo save data can carry over to the full game. Time Trial results are the exception: they do not transfer to the full game’s leaderboard. The full game launched on September 25, 2025, so the demo is no longer a pre-release offer.
What’s in the demo?
SEGA’s March 19, 2026 update lists a single-player selection of modes and content:

- Characters: four playable characters.
- Courses: eight total—three main courses and five CrossWorlds.
- Machines: 15, or 12 in the Nintendo Switch demo.
- Gadgets: 20.
The Nintendo Switch demo does not include Extreme Gear Machines, according to SEGA’s March 19, 2026 demo update.
Which platforms can access it?
SEGA names PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games. Availability is not identical in every region: the update lists the PlayStation 5 demo for Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, and the Xbox Series X|S demo for Hong Kong and Singapore. Steam and Epic Games are also named.

Check the listing for your platform and region before downloading; the announcement does not establish universal availability in every storefront. SEGA’s updated availability notice has the platform and region details.
Can demo progress carry over?
Yes. SEGA says demo save data can be carried into the full version. The Steam listing also says save data carries over. However, Time Trial results do not upload to, or carry over to, the full game’s leaderboard. If leaderboard placement is your goal, a demo run will not count there.

Does the demo support multiplayer?
No. The demo is single-player only: it does not include online or local multiplayer. Steam specifically notes that online multiplayer and local split-screen are unavailable in the demo.

When did the full game release?
SEGA’s October 23, 2025 announcement gave September 25, 2025 as the full game’s release date. That announcement originally described the demo as a way to try the game for free before launch, but the game is now released. See SEGA’s release announcement for the dated release information.
