Is There a One-Hour Limit on GeForce NOW?

GeForce NOW session lengths depend on your plan and region. Performance and Ultimate also have a separate 100-hour monthly premium-playtime limit.

No—GeForce NOW does not have one universal one-hour limit. The maximum length of an individual session depends on your plan and region. Separately, Performance and Ultimate currently include 100 hours of premium playtime per month, so paying does not mean unlimited premium access.

What a “one-hour limit” can mean

A one-hour countdown may reflect the session limit currently assigned to your account, an older description of the service, or a change in access after your premium allowance runs out. It is not a single rule that applies equally to every GeForce NOW member.

NVIDIA’s membership terms describe session length as plan-dependent. The current public FAQ and terms do not establish one universal, current Free-session duration, so don’t assume that every Free session lasts exactly one hour. Check the plan information shown for your account and region. NVIDIA’s membership terms

Session length and monthly playtime are different limits

Session length: one uninterrupted cloud session

A session limit is the maximum time you can remain in one cloud gaming session. When it expires, the current session ends. You can start or select a game again and may have to wait in the queue. NVIDIA’s terms do not set a general daily limit on the number of new sessions, but plan access, capacity and any monthly premium-playtime limit still matter.

Monthly playtime: premium access during your billing cycle

Performance and Ultimate include 100 hours of premium playtime per month. Up to 15 unused hours can roll over. Your allowance resets according to your account’s monthly billing cycle, not necessarily on the first day of the calendar month; NVIDIA says the reset date is visible in the Account Portal. NVIDIA’s playtime FAQ

These limits can affect you independently: a session may end before you have used your monthly allowance, or you may use up the premium allowance even if your individual sessions are long.

How current plans differ

Membership or pass Session and playtime rules What to keep in mind
Free Session length depends on the plan terms displayed for your account; no universal current one-hour figure is established in NVIDIA’s accessible FAQ and terms. No premium monthly allocation is specified there for Free. Free sessions may have pre-game sponsorship ads of up to two minutes. Ads do not interrupt gameplay, but queues can be longer and depend on traffic.
Performance Longer sessions than Free; 100 hours of premium playtime per month, with up to 15 unused hours rolling over. Additional premium hours may be purchased. If you use up the allocation, basic/free-user access remains an option until reset.
Ultimate The longest session lengths; 100 hours of premium playtime per month, with up to 15 unused hours rolling over. It is not unlimited monthly premium playtime. Access to the highest-tier rigs and wait times depends on availability.
Founders Unlimited playtime while the qualifying Founders membership remains active and in good standing. Upgrading to Ultimate applies the monthly limit. Returning to the base Founders membership restores unlimited playtime if the Founders benefit has not been forfeited.
Day Pass 24 consecutive hours of premium access from payment processing, not one 24-hour gaming session. The pass expires after 24 hours; a session still in progress ends when it expires. Eligibility depends on membership status.

Plan names and availability vary by region. NVIDIA’s current public FAQ uses Free, Performance and Ultimate; older pages or posts may refer to Priority, which is not the current name in that FAQ. Use the membership terms shown for your location and account.

What happens when a session ends?

  1. NVIDIA ends the active cloud session when the maximum duration for your plan is reached.
  2. Launch or select the game again to start another session.
  3. Wait in the queue if your plan or current server capacity requires it.
  4. Check the game’s save system and connected store account to confirm that progress synchronized.

A session ending does not automatically erase all progress, but recovery is not guaranteed. It depends on the game, store integration and whether the save finished syncing before the session closed. Save manually before a displayed cutoff when the game allows it, especially if it does not reliably support cloud saves.

What happens after the 100-hour premium allowance?

When Performance or Ultimate premium hours run out, NVIDIA says you can purchase additional premium hours or continue with basic/free-user access until your next monthly reset. Reaching the premium cap is therefore not necessarily a complete lockout from GeForce NOW; the level of access changes. NVIDIA’s playtime FAQ

2026 grandfathering and Founders exceptions

  • For subscriptions purchased before January 15, 2026, NVIDIA says grandfathered unlimited playtime lasts until the first billing date after January 15, 2026.
  • Qualifying Founders members retain unlimited playtime while the Founders membership remains ongoing and in good standing. Upgrading to Ultimate triggers the monthly limit.
  • Starting April 30, 2026, NVIDIA says premium members retain Install-to-Play access even if they do not buy additional playtime.

How to check the limit on your account

  1. Open the GeForce NOW app and go to Settings.
  2. Open the GeForce NOW Membership section to review your current plan. Use Manage to view or change membership.
  3. Open the NVIDIA Account Portal to check remaining premium playtime and the reset date.

Labels can differ by app version, device, language and region. Treat the membership and time information shown in your account as more authoritative than an old article or forum post.

If GeForce NOW disconnects before the timer ends

A disconnect near the displayed cutoff points to a session expiration. If you have played heavily during the billing cycle, check your remaining premium hours. A long wait after reconnecting may be a queue or capacity issue rather than a time ban.

For an unexpected disconnect well before the cutoff, check for network instability, an app or browser crash, device sleep or background suspension, a game crash, expired account or store authentication, and a service outage or regional availability issue. A game returning to its launcher or becoming inactive can also look like a service disconnect. NVIDIA notes that access and performance depend on factors including region, server availability, device, network, membership and GPU type. NVIDIA’s membership terms

Which option fits your play pattern?

  • Choose Free to try the service or play occasionally if pre-game ads and possible queues work for you. Confirm the session terms displayed in your region.
  • Consider Performance if you want premium access, faster access than Free and longer sessions without needing Ultimate’s highest performance tier. Its 100-hour monthly premium allowance still applies.
  • Consider Ultimate if you value the highest available performance and the longest sessions. It also has the 100-hour monthly premium allowance, so upgrading solely to get unlimited monthly premium playtime will not solve that problem.
  • Consider a Day Pass for a one-off event or gaming day rather than a recurring membership. Eligibility varies: NVIDIA allows eligible Free or Performance members to buy certain passes, while Ultimate members with a recurring subscription cannot buy Day Passes.
  • Check carefully before changing a Founders plan. An upgrade to Ultimate applies the monthly limit; Founders’ unlimited benefit depends on keeping the qualifying membership active.

NVIDIA says plan availability, features and server capacity vary by location. For the exact session duration, rely on the plan terms shown in your account rather than assuming a limit from another country or an older plan. NVIDIA’s membership terms
