Escape from Tarkov uses Battlestate Games’ internal anti-cheat systems alongside work with BattlEye, the developer says. Battlestate reports that bans happen daily and recommends reporting suspected cheaters through the in-game system. The public sources do not explain how the two systems divide the technical work.
What anti-cheat does Escape from Tarkov use?
Battlestate Games says Tarkov uses internal anti-cheat systems and that it continues working with BattlEye to improve detection. That establishes the presence of both the developer’s anti-cheat work and BattlEye, but not the precise responsibilities or technical design of either. Battlestate’s April 9, 2026 developer diary, reproduced by TarkovDB, does not detail the implementation.
Does Battlestate ban suspected cheaters?
Yes. In the April 9, 2026 diary, Battlestate said bans happen daily and advised players to report suspected cheaters through the in-game reporting system. The studio also said it would stop publishing lists of banned users, shifting instead to answers to common anti-cheat questions and more detailed statistics for defined periods. Read the diary reproduced by TarkovDB.
A separate dated report from Escape from Tarkov Official said more than 11,000 cheaters had been banned since October 18, 2025. That is a count for a period beginning on that date, not a current cumulative total. See the official Telegram channel.

What should you do if you suspect cheating?
- Use Escape from Tarkov’s in-game reporting system to report the suspected cheater, as Battlestate recommends.
- Provide the information requested by the game’s reporting flow. The cited public materials do not specify additional Tarkov-specific reporting steps.
What if you think you were falsely banned?
BattlEye’s general support guidance says an appeal of a global ban should include the exact global ban ID and the game name, and should be submitted through its contact page. BattlEye also says global bans are permanent and that no exceptions will be made. These are BattlEye-wide policies; the cited guidance is not a complete Tarkov-specific appeals process. BattlEye support.
Can overlays or other software get you banned?
BattlEye says non-cheat programs such as overlays are not, by themselves, grounds for a global ban. Its FAQ also says some software, including macro tools, may cause a kick without automatically flagging a player as a cheater. This general guidance is not a guarantee that every third-party program is permitted in Tarkov; consult the game’s own rules and support for a specific case. BattlEye support and the BattlEye FAQ.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is not publicly established?
The cited sources do not lay out Tarkov’s full anti-cheat architecture, the division of work between Battlestate and BattlEye, supported operating systems, or a comprehensive list of permitted software. They establish that anti-cheat systems are in use and that enforcement is ongoing, but not how detection works in every case.
