Yes. Mojang’s official Minecraft material still describes glowstone as a Nether resource, including clusters in the Nether Wastes. The specific sources cited here are from 2018 and 2022, so they confirm glowstone’s documented place in Minecraft but do not independently verify its status in the latest live version as of October 8, 2026.
Where glowstone is found
Mojang’s 2018 glowstone feature says the block occurs naturally in the Nether, generating on the underside of netherrack. A later 2022 article about the Nether Wastes also identifies glowstone as a Nether resource and describes clusters above the biome’s landscape.
The 2018 feature also mentions that clerics in Minecraft villages may sell small amounts of glowstone for emeralds. That description is not a guarantee of trade availability in every edition or version.
How to collect and use it
According to Mojang’s 2018 feature, breaking glowstone without Silk Touch drops 2–4 glowstone dust. Arrange four dust in a 2×2 crafting pattern to craft a glowstone block again. The same feature says glowstone emits light level 15.

Glowstone also has redstone uses: Mojang says it transmits redstone power upward but not downward, and that a redstone lamp is crafted using one glowstone block and four redstone dust. Glowstone can charge a respawn anchor up to four charges, as described in Mojang’s Java snapshot notes and Bedrock Nether Update notes.
How long glowstone has been in Minecraft
Mojang’s feature reports that glowstone was added on October 30, 2010, in the Halloween Update. Its continued appearance in official Nether material published in 2022 supports the straightforward answer: yes, glowstone is still part of Minecraft’s documented Nether content.
