No: there is no basis for calling TLauncher “100% safe.” TLauncher describes safeguards in its own documentation, but says its Guard feature is still under development and does not protect against every problem. An independent report flags suspicious behavior in one specific 2023 sample; it does not establish that every version, or the current release, is malware. If you want Minecraft’s official launcher, Minecraft offers it through Minecraft.net and Microsoft Store.
What the available evidence does—and does not—show
“100% safe” is too absolute a standard for any launcher, and the available evidence cannot support that claim for TLauncher. A scan or analysis of one file cannot prove that every version, download source, bundled component, or future update is safe.
The strongest independent technical evidence here is a Joe Sandbox analysis dated October 12, 2023, of a file named TLauncher-2.895.jar. It flagged code obfuscation, dropped files, debugger checks, and DLL side-loading during its automated run. The report is about that sample and run; it does not establish that all TLauncher versions are malware or that the current build is compromised. Its score of 56 is an analysis score for that sample, not a risk percentage or a measure of how many installations are unsafe. Joe Sandbox report.
The evidence reviewed does not establish the current TLauncher release number, its current file hash, or a recent independent analysis tied to that hash. The 2023 report should therefore be read as dated, version-specific information—not a timeless verdict on today’s download.

What TLauncher says about its own safeguards
TLauncher’s Guard page says the feature is enabled by default and remains under development. The company describes it as providing security-related notifications and protection against certain insecure servers, while explicitly warning that it does not protect against all problems, including scams and account loss. These are the vendor’s claims and cautions, not an independent audit. TLauncher Guard documentation.
TLauncher’s security article, dated August 30, 2018, recommends scanning files, checking signatures, and protecting accounts. Its VirusTotal examples concern version 2.66, so they do not establish the status of a current release. The article also says TLauncher does not publish its source code; its comments about parts being inspectable are vendor statements, not evidence of a current independent review. How to assess a download you already have
- Check where it came from. TLauncher names tlauncher.org as its official website and warns that files from other sites may pose a threat. This provenance guidance comes from TLauncher itself; an official-domain download is not, by itself, proof that a file is safe.
- Verify the exact file. Check its digital signature and publisher information, as TLauncher recommends. Make sure you are assessing the file you actually downloaded; a result for another version or sample does not answer whether yours is safe.
- Use a scan as one signal, not a guarantee. TLauncher’s security article describes VirusTotal checks, but a clean scan cannot establish universal safety. Antivirus software can miss threats, and the 2018 article’s examples are for version 2.66, not a current release.
- Be cautious with a mismatch or uncertainty. If the file came from an unofficial source, its signature cannot be verified, or you cannot identify the exact build, do not treat a clean scan as a reason to trust it. Consider using Minecraft’s official launcher instead.
Official Minecraft launcher versus TLauncher
Minecraft says its launcher is available from Minecraft.net or Microsoft Store. That is the publisher-provided route if you want the official Minecraft launcher. Choosing it does not, by itself, clean or repair a device on which you may already have run a suspicious file. Minecraft launcher download.
Mojang and Microsoft’s EULA says third-party tools and services should not appear official because the companies “can’t guarantee their quality.” The EULA also restricts distribution of Minecraft software and modified versions without permission. This is a warning about official status, quality, and distribution—not a finding that TLauncher is malware. Minecraft EULA.

What “100% safe” means in practice
There is no reliable, current independent statistic in the evidence reviewed that measures the share of TLauncher installations or versions that are unsafe. Nor does a single sandbox report provide that prevalence. The practical question is whether you trust the source and publisher of a specific file, what evidence exists for that exact build, and whether the software’s safeguards have clear limits.
If you want the publisher-provided Minecraft launcher, use Minecraft.net or Microsoft Store. If you are evaluating TLauncher, treat its safety claims as vendor statements, verify the exact file and source, and do not interpret a clean scan—or the 2023 sample analysis—as a guarantee about every release.
