Which Trailmakers platforms can play together?
The official listings reviewed do not provide a complete, current compatibility chart for every version of Trailmakers. The evidence supports some specific capabilities, but a game being available on two platforms does not by itself mean players on those platforms can join the same session.

Can Steam play with Xbox?
Do not assume that it can. A July 2023 Steam Community discussion reports that the Steam edition does not cross-play with Xbox and distinguishes it from the Windows edition. Because this is user-reported information rather than a current official support statement, treat it as a caution rather than a definitive guarantee about every current version.
Before buying or setting up a session, ask the PC player which edition they own: Steam or the Xbox/Microsoft Store Windows edition. The Xbox listing’s cross-platform wording is not a blanket confirmation for all PC storefronts.

Can PlayStation play with Xbox or PC?
That pairing is unconfirmed by the official store listings reviewed. The PlayStation Store confirms online multiplayer for PlayStation players, but does not say they can join Xbox or PC sessions. Likewise, the Xbox listing’s cross-platform claims do not establish PlayStation compatibility. If this specific pairing matters, do not purchase on the assumption that cross-play is available.
What multiplayer does each platform listing confirm?
Xbox
The Xbox store listing says all game modes support multiplayer for two to eight players and advertises Xbox cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform co-op. It lists Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC among supported platforms. For online multiplayer on an Xbox console, the listing requires a Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate subscription. PlayStation
The PlayStation Store lists PS4 and PS5 versions and says online sessions support up to eight players with PS Plus. It also states that PS Plus is required for online play. Those details confirm PlayStation multiplayer availability, not cross-play with another platform. PlayStation Store listing.

The official Trailmakers website describes a vehicle-building game with multiplayer and community creations, including playing with friends and using the integrated workshop. Its general multiplayer description does not supply a platform-by-platform cross-play matrix. Trailmakers official website.

How to check before you buy or join a friend
- Identify each exact edition. For PC, distinguish the Steam edition from the Xbox/Microsoft Store Windows edition; “PC” alone is not specific enough.
- Match the pairing to confirmed information. Xbox advertises cross-platform play, and its listing includes PC, but the Steam discussion reports Steam-to-Xbox incompatibility. PlayStation cross-play with Xbox or PC is not established by the reviewed official listings.
- Confirm online access requirements. The Xbox listing requires Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate for console online multiplayer; the PlayStation listing requires PS Plus for online play.
- If the pairing is unlisted, verify it before purchase. The official site and store pages do not provide a full current matrix. A current developer support statement would be needed to make an unlisted pairing definitive.
Does multiplayer mean universal cross-play?
No. Multiplayer means players can play together within the supported online modes; it does not establish that every storefront or console ecosystem connects to every other one. For Trailmakers, use the specific platform and edition evidence above rather than inferring compatibility from a store page that lists multiple platforms.
