Its advertised scale and mix of arcade and simcade controls make it appealing on paper to both newcomers and drift-game regulars, but those publisher descriptions do not establish how the handling, performance or value hold up in play. Here is what the game includes—and what to check before buying.
What kind of game is JDM: Japanese Drift Master?
Developed by Poland’s Gaming Factory, JDM takes place in the fictional Guntama prefecture, a region inspired by real Japanese locations. The official game site describes mountain passes, rural roads, highways and city streets, with changing weather, traffic and day-night conditions. Its pitch combines free driving, drift and grip events, car tuning and a story about a foreign protagonist seeking recognition in Japan’s drifting scene, told with manga-style sequences. The official JDM site and Teyon Japan’s game page outline those features.

The official site advertises more than 250 km of main roads and 40-plus narrative events. The PlayStation Store describes more than 40 campaign events and sidequests. These are publisher and storefront figures, not independently measured map coverage or a guide to how many hours the campaign takes.
How does driving work?
Arcade and Simcade modes
The game offers two control approaches. Arcade mode is presented as the more accessible option for beginners or relaxed driving; Simcade disables assists for a more demanding experience. Teyon Japan says players can switch modes during play. That gives players a way to choose between more assisted driving and fewer aids, but the descriptions alone cannot tell you how convincing or satisfying the handling feels.
#1 Best Overall
- Driving Models - Designed primarily for gamepads, JDM boasts two driving models to choose from: Arcade, suited for a more relaxed experience and drift beginners; and Simcade in which all assists are off, trading full control over the car for more skill requirements to manage drifting. Players can switch between both models at any time during the game.
- Open World - Soak in the atmosphere of Japan with the fictional prefecture of Guntama, created through mixing real-life locations from all over the country. With over 250 km of visually stunning main roads, standalone racing tracks and instanced events, set across winding mountain passes, rural areas and the city's bustling streets, you’ll explore diverse landscapes featuring traffic, dynamic weather, and day-night cycle systems.
- Fully Licensed Cars - Sit behind the wheel of legendary Nissan, Honda, Subaru and Mazda cars. Tune them mechanically with new parts and then fine tune the details. Experiment with visual parts: from hoods, through lights to full body kit swaps. Adjust the suspension, wheel camber, gear ratios and more. Finally, paint the car however you like using a free pick color palette. You want underglow? It’s at your disposal as well.
- Story-driven Campaign - Step into the shoes of a foreigner determined to make his mark on the Japanese drifting scene. Compete in 40+ narrative-driven events and additional sidequests against the top drifters in the area. Experience this journey through hand-drawn manga pages, which add a unique and artistic touch to the game.
- The Audio Purr - Experience authentic car sounds, captured through original recordings and brought to life with attention to detail, making you feel like you're truly behind the wheel. Cruise along picturesque roads while tuning in to genre-themed radio stations, including unique soundscapes of J-music, Phonk and even Eurobeat - choose the perfect soundtrack for your drive! Bonus JDM: MADE IN USA Pack includes 30 additional car tuning parts and 6 additional vehicles, including: Ironvale Thunderbolt T40, Ironvale Stallion ’69, Taipan, Delray Vanquisher TR, Delray Venom and Falcon HellFeather.
Controller, keyboard and steering wheel
Gamepad play is supported, and the official site also lists keyboard and steering-device input. The PlayStation Store names Logitech, Thrustmaster and Fanatec wheels; Teyon Japan’s Japanese page specifically names Logitech and Thrustmaster. Wheel compatibility is not universal: check the game’s current compatibility information for your exact wheel model and platform before buying or connecting one. A steering wheel is optional, not a stated requirement.
What content is included?
Cars and events
Teyon Japan describes more than 30 licensed cars, including examples such as the Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R and Silvia S13; Honda Beat and S2000; Mazda RX-7 and Roadster; and Subaru BRZ and Impreza WRX STI. The international official site also names Mazda, Honda, Nissan and Subaru among the licensed marques. The available descriptions establish the roster’s breadth, but not the depth of tuning or how each car differs on the road.
Solo play is organized around the narrative campaign, with drift and grip events alongside free driving. The PlayStation listing and Teyon Japan also describe multiplayer for up to eight players. Listed activities include cruising, car meets, drift battles, grip races and one-on-one touge challenges. “Up to eight” is the stated capacity; it is not a measure of current player activity or matchmaking availability.
Is JDM: Japanese Drift Master worth it?
It is a plausible option for players looking for a Japanese-road setting, licensed cars, drift-focused events and both solo and online activities in one package. The ability to choose Arcade or Simcade controls may also suit players who want different levels of assistance. Whether it is worth the price depends on factors the feature lists cannot settle: the feel of the driving, the quality of the campaign and how well the game runs on your system. No independent handling, frame-rate or performance findings are established here, so treat the feature overview as a buying checklist rather than a verdict on execution.

When comparing it with another drift racer, weigh control accessibility, your platform’s wheel compatibility, the balance of open-road exploration and structured events, car and tuning depth, solo content versus multiplayer, and the total cost of any edition or DLC you want.
