Jewel Quest is a 2004 match-three puzzle game with a board-wide objective: make matches to turn the sand tiles beneath the jewels gold, then finish with every tile golden. The title also names a larger franchise that includes sequels, Solitaire games, hidden-object Mysteries spin-offs, and entries with different mechanics.

What is the original Jewel Quest game?

The original Jewel Quest is a tile-matching puzzle game first released for PC in 2004. GameSpot records its first release as 29 October 2004; the official series history also dates Jewel Quest (PC) to 2004. The official series history and GameSpot’s listing describe the original-game record, not the availability of every later edition.

How do you turn every tile gold?

Match three or more jewels to change the sand tiles underneath them to gold. Your goal is not simply to build a high score: you must make every tile on the board gold to complete the puzzle. The official description says later puzzles add complications such as cursed items and buried artifacts, so solving the board becomes more than repeating the same match pattern.

Which Jewel Quest games use the original match-three format?

The franchise expanded beyond the first game. Its official history lists numbered sequels, plus branches with distinct formats. Check the particular title before assuming it uses the original’s board objective.

#1 Best Overall
Jewel Quest - PC
  • Unique new take on classic-style matching game
  • Map progress through 180 increasingly difficult puzzles
  • Encounter buried relics, cursed items, and mind-boggling boards
  • Stunning graphics, captivating music, and wild sounds of the jungle
  • Get special hints to help with the battle against time
  • Numbered games: Jewel Quest II (2007) and Jewel Quest III (2008) are among the sequels named in the official chronology.
  • Solitaire: Jewel Quest Solitaire (2006) and its sequel are card-game spin-offs, not simply more boards using the original match-three format.
  • Mysteries: Jewel Quest Mysteries: Curse of the Emerald Tear (2008) and later Mysteries titles take the franchise into hidden-object gameplay.
  • Other entries: The official chronology includes Jewel Quest Heritage, The Sleepless Star, The Sapphire Dragon, and Seven Seas.

The dates above are the franchise site’s chronology, not a complete independent release database. Its page also describes Seven Seas as adding jewel-swapping tricks, tools, power-ups, and a Collapse-style mode, with over 200 gameplay levels across 14 environments. Those counts and feature descriptions are publisher claims specific to that game, not totals or features for the whole series.

Where can you play Jewel Quest?

Platform history depends on the exact edition and listing. GameSpot’s record for the original lists PC, mobile (MOBI), Xbox 360, iOS, and Wii U. That historical platform list does not confirm that each version can still be purchased or played through a current storefront.

Windows: Jewel Quest Heritage

iWin’s current Jewel Quest Heritage listing labels the game Windows-only and offers play through iWin Game Pass. The listing describes over 170 new Jewel Boards and three jewel-swapping modes; these are publisher-stated features, not independently verified counts. Check the listing for current access terms, which may change.

Wii U: a European download listing

Nintendo UK’s listing is specifically for the European Wii U download. It gives the release date as 21 July 2016, identifies iWin as publisher, and lists one player, a PEGI 3 rating, and a 390.50 MB download size. These details apply to that regional listing; they do not establish current store availability in other regions. Nintendo says the game description was supplied by the publisher.

How to check an edition before choosing it

  • Match the exact game title: the original, Heritage, Solitaire, and Mysteries are not interchangeable editions.
  • Check the platform and region on the live publisher or platform-store page.
  • Confirm the present access method. A historical platform listing or past release date does not prove that a download is still offered.

The identified pages establish digital download or subscription access for particular listings. They do not establish a physical edition or a compatible physical product.

What do the review scores tell you?

GameSpot’s database entry displays a 6.7 score and a Metacritic aggregate of 68 for its listed original-game record. These are historical database figures, and the source does not provide a snapshot date here. They should not be treated as scores for every platform version or for the franchise as a whole.
