PlanetPlay announced Joe Jonas as the October 2024 “Star of the Month” for its Make Green Tuesday Moves gaming initiative. The campaign, which began October 1, offered Joe Jonas-themed digital items in participating games; PlanetPlay said campaign proceeds would support certified sustainability projects. The announcement describes a past activation, and current sources do not confirm that its items are still available.
What was the Joe Jonas Make Green Tuesday Moves campaign?
PlanetPlay’s October 1, 2024 announcement named Jonas its October “Star of the Month.” It described downloadable character-themed items, skins, badges and other digital content in participating games. Google supported the activation with a dedicated Google Play page featuring the mission, videos of Jonas and participating games. These details come from PlanetPlay’s announcement.

PlanetPlay’s announcement used the name Make Green Tuesday Moves (MGTM). Its current materials call the broader, year-round initiative Make Green Moves (MGM). The Jonas campaign was one dated activation within that program, not evidence of a continuing Joe Jonas promotion.

Did buying the items fund climate or sustainability projects?
PlanetPlay’s announcement said campaign proceeds would be invested in certified sustainability projects, including reforestation, renewable energy and ocean cleanups. Its current Help Center makes the accounting more specific: 100% of PlanetPlay’s profit after developer revenue share and transaction costs funds Gold Standard-certified environmental projects. The distinction matters: the stated allocation is not that every dollar of a player’s gross purchase price goes directly to a project.

PlanetPlay describes several ways its broader program operates. Studios can contribute as companies or offer green-themed in-game items, downloadable content or entire games. Players can buy green-themed content; PlanetPlay also lists PC game and digital item purchases, mobile in-game purchases, and contributions or sponsorships as revenue routes. These are descriptions of PlanetPlay’s practices, not an independent audit of the individual Jonas campaign purchases.
Can you still get the Joe Jonas items?
The announcement covered an October 2024 campaign. The sources do not confirm whether the Jonas-themed items remain available now, so their current availability should be checked in the relevant game rather than assumed from the old announcement. No specific item prices or individual campaign outcomes were stated.

What results did PlanetPlay report?
PlanetPlay’s January 2025 retrospective reported that campaigns including Make Green Tuesday Moves had saved 12,500 tonnes of carbon in 2024, and presented 62,500 trees as an equivalent. Those are program-wide figures, not measured results for Jonas’s activation alone. The report also said more than 900,000 players engaged with a separate UNDP-partnered Play2Act survey; that is not a count of buyers or campaign participants. These figures are PlanetPlay-reported, not independently verified here.
In the same 2024 Impact Report, PlanetPlay quoted Jonas: “Helping our planet is something I really care about, and the best part is we can all do that while playing games as part of PlanetPlay’s Make Green Tuesday Moves initiative. PlanetPlay makes sustainability fun and rewarding, so what are you waiting for? Let’s make a difference together.” The report attributes the statement to him but does not specify where or when he said it.
