Search the player’s username or open their profile, then select Join Experience when Roblox shows it. The button appears only when the player is currently in an experience, their visibility settings include you, and your account can access that experience.
How to join a non-friend on Roblox
- Open Roblox and use Search to find the person’s exact username, or open their Profile page.
- Check the search result or profile for Join Experience.
- Select Join Experience to enter the experience they are currently playing.
Roblox’s official instructions use the label Join Experience; they do not call this control “Join Game,” “Join Server,” or “Follow Game.” See Roblox’s follow and join instructions.
You do not have to select Add Friend first. The documented flow works from search or a profile whenever the join button is available.
What the other player must allow
The player you want to join controls whether Roblox reveals their current experience and permits people to join. They must adjust Show current experience so its audience includes you.

More at the bottom right → Settings → Privacy & content restrictions → Visibility & private servers → Visibility → Show current experience
Roblox says this setting controls both who can see the experience currently being played and who can join it. Anyone outside the selected audience will not see that current experience. Details are in Roblox’s Online Status and Visibility article.

Visibility choices vary by account
The available audiences depend on the account’s age and region. Roblox may show choices such as:
Recommended Free Tools
- Friends
- Trusted Friends
- Followers
- Users you follow
- No one
- Everyone on Roblox
Not every account receives every option. To let a specific non-friend join reliably, the player must choose an audience that includes that person. Everyone on Roblox is the broadest listed choice; Followers or Users you follow are narrower and work only when the joiner fits that audience.
Why “Join Experience” may be missing

Online status, follows and joins are separate controls
Being able to find someone, follow them, message them or see them online does not automatically grant permission to join. Roblox lets account owners control chat, messages, follows into games and private-server invitations independently. Its safety guidance is at Safety Features, Chat, Privacy & Filtering.
The Online Status setting can make an active player look offline, while Show current experience determines whether their current experience is visible and joinable for your audience.
Private servers are a separate case
Joining the same experience does not automatically grant access to the player’s private server. The server owner’s invitation and permission settings still apply. Private-server configuration is described in Roblox’s Private Servers documentation.

What will not work
You do not need to become friends first
“You must friend someone before joining them” is not a general Roblox rule. If Join Experience is available and you have access, the official workflow lets you join without accepting or sending a friend request.
There is no documented chat command
Roblox’s current support procedure does not provide an official /join username command or equivalent syntax. Use username/profile lookup and the Join Experience control instead.
Old “Join Me” instructions may be obsolete
Current Roblox documentation uses Show current experience under Privacy & content restrictions → Visibility & private servers → Visibility. Guides that instruct you to find a standalone Who can join me? or Join Me setting may describe an older interface.

Third-party join experiences are not Roblox account controls
An experience called Join Any Person advertises entering a username to teleport into another player’s session. It is published by Airroar Community, not Roblox Support or Roblox Corporation. Its description does not establish that it bypasses privacy settings or experience permissions, so it is not a substitute for Roblox’s official join flow.
Terminology changes in 2026
On April 2, 2026, Roblox announced that the social labels Connections and Trusted Connections were changing back to Friends and Trusted Friends during a rollout over the following weeks. That change affects relationship and trusted-friend terminology; it does not replace the Join Experience process. See Roblox’s announcement.
