Earn it by completing Mission Board missions; Investigations and Boss Raids are also listed as sources. No cited guide verifies a single fastest activity, so the practical approach is to repeat a run you can clear reliably with little downtime.
What Mission Essence is used for
Mission Essence is a progression resource, not a potion or other consumable. Community references describe it as a requirement for grade promotions. The item page calls the promotion rank “Clan Head,” while other guides refer to Sorcerer Grade; check the promotion prompt in your current game to confirm the requirement and terminology you see.
A community progression table lists 10 Mission Essence for each grade promotion it shows, but the sources disagree on cash costs and do not establish that every current promotion follows the same requirements. Treat the 10-Essence figure as a community-reported reference, not a guaranteed current cost. See the Jujutsu Infinite Wiki progression table and verify your own requirement in-game.
How to get Mission Essence
Community guides list three activity types as sources: Mission Board missions, Investigations, and Boss Raids. The missions guide specifically says completed missions reward Essence. It does not establish that one activity awards more per minute than another.

- Investigations: Listed as another Mission Essence source by the JujutsuCalc Mission Essence guide.
- Boss Raids: Also listed as a source by that guide. The available information does not establish a drop rate or a speed advantage over missions.
Which missions should you choose?
The Mission Board guide lists five mission types. Choose one whose objective and enemies suit your level and build; a mission that is quick for one player may be slow or risky for another.
| Mission type | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Exorcise | Targets relatively weaker spirits that commonly appear in groups. |
| Capture | Secure a point and defeat spirits contesting it; killing those spirits progresses the objective. |
| Kill Curse User | Defeat curse users. |
| Kill A Band | Defeat a band of enemies. |
| Exorcise Unregistered Spirit | Exorcise an unregistered spirit. |
These descriptions come from the JujutsuCalc Missions Guide, updated July 2026. It also notes that mission sets have their own special drops, so consider any other reward you want alongside Essence.

How to get Mission Essence fast
There is no verified fastest farm in the cited guides: they provide no controlled clear-time comparison or Essence-per-minute rates for missions, Investigations, or Boss Raids. Treat any claim that one is universally best with caution.
As a practical rule of thumb—not a tested ranking—farm the activity you can finish consistently with the least travel, waiting, and re-queuing. A slightly slower run that rarely fails can be more productive for you than a harder activity with longer downtime or abandoned attempts. Reassess your choice if your level, build, or group changes.

Check the current promotion requirement in-game
Community pages are useful for identifying the resource and its reported sources, but they are not developer-authored documentation, and promotion requirements can change. Before farming to a target, open your current grade-promotion prompt and check the exact Essence and cash costs shown there. The sources available do not provide a verified, current cost table for every promotion.
