Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash is easiest to recommend to committed fans who want to see familiar characters fight in a 2-versus-2 action brawler. It is a much harder sell if you want a polished, deep fighting game: critic reception has been broadly unfavorable, with reviews questioning combat, mode variety, and story presentation. The game’s appeal depends on which of those two things matters more to you.
What kind of game is Cursed Clash?
Cursed Clash is a tag-team 2-versus-2 action game, not a conventional one-on-one fighter. Bandai Namco describes a system where players pair sorcerers and cursed spirits, combine their abilities, and build cursed energy during battle. The publisher’s promotional description says players should “aim for new heights by mastering the ‘Cursed Techniques’ of powerful Jujutsu Sorcerers and Cursed Spirits”; that conveys the intended fantasy, not an independent assessment of how well the combat works. What do reviews say?
The critical picture is unfavorable. In a 2026 snapshot, Metacritic’s PS5 critic page displayed a 44/100 Metascore, labeled “Generally Unfavorable,” based on 19 critic reviews. This is a dated snapshot of a live aggregate, so the total may change. Metacritic’s PS5 critic page
Across the reviews represented on that page, recurring concerns include combat that feels unpolished or unengaging, limited variety in the modes, and story material delivered through static images. Some reviewers saw promise in the two-on-two setup, the character roster, or the animated attacks. Those positives explain the game’s potential appeal, but they do not erase the broader concern that its systems and content may not sustain interest.

Is it worth buying for a Jujutsu Kaisen fan?
It may be, if your main draw is controlling the series’ characters and seeing their abilities represented in battles. The publisher says the offline story mode covers the first anime season through Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and the roster and attack animations were among the elements some reviewers appreciated. Treat those as reasons to consider it, rather than proof that the story mode is an especially rich retelling: critics also noted static-image presentation.
For a fan primarily looking for a strong single-player game, the review concerns about presentation and mode depth matter. The official feature list establishes that a story mode exists, but does not establish how compelling its adaptation or progression will feel to an individual player.

Is it worth buying as a fighting game?
If your standard is a polished, mechanically deep fighter with substantial modes and dependable online competition, the available review evidence points toward caution. The game’s team-based brawler format may be appealing, but the cited reviews commonly question the feel of combat and the amount of content. It is better approached as a licensed action game built around team battles than as a safe pick for someone seeking a conventional competitive fighter.

The standard edition is the base game.
