Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Malta Expansion is paid DLC built around a new Malta campaign and its Dinosaur Exchange—not just a bundle of extra dinosaurs. The available reviews lean positive, particularly on that trading system, but the critic sample is too small to call it a broad consensus. You need the base game to play it.
What reviewers thought of the Dominion Malta Expansion
The reception is mixed-positive, with limited evidence. At the time of the Steam snapshot, the expansion had a “Mostly Positive” rating: 75% of 181 user reviews. That storefront figure can change as more players review it. Steam’s listing provides the current user-review snapshot.
Metacritic displayed three critic reviews: Dexerto rated it 80 on 16 December 2022, God Is a Geek rated it 80 on 3 January 2023, and Finger Guns rated it 70 on 12 December 2022. The excerpts praise the Dinosaur Exchange and campaign additions, while the lower-scoring review says the pack is not revolutionary. Taken together, these few reviews suggest a worthwhile addition for fans of Jurassic World Evolution 2, rather than a radical change to the game. Three entries are not enough to represent critics as a whole. Metacritic’s review page lists the entries.
What you get for the price
Released on 8 December 2022, the Dominion Malta Expansion requires Jurassic World Evolution 2. Its official suggested launch prices were £15.99, $19.99, and €19.99; those are launch prices, not a statement of what it costs now. Check the store for your platform and region before buying. Steam’s product page identifies the base-game requirement, and Frontier’s announcement gives the launch details.

How the Malta campaign and Dinosaur Exchange work
The campaign is set before the events of Jurassic World Dominion. You operate an enterprise across three Mediterranean locations, building relationships with either the Authorities or the Underground. Those relationships open research and opportunities, including hatchery upgrades and access to additional locations. Progress persists as you move among the islands; Game Director Rich Newbold described it this way: “There are three in total, and progress is persistent across these islands.” PlayStation.Blog’s feature article describes the campaign.
The defining new management system is the Dinosaur Exchange. It lets you acquire species, eggs, and genome data, then use a cargo ship to move dinosaurs between locations. Newbold said the Exchange would let players acquire “more species, eggs, and even genomes” to build a network of parks. This gives the campaign a trading-and-logistics loop alongside the usual park management, and is the strongest reason to consider the expansion if you want a different way to play. The official feature article outlines the Exchange.

- The Scorpios rex joins the large dinosaurs of the Jurassic World Hammond Collection, which has created a new standard for collector figures with deluxe articulation and life-like details.
- As the rain pours down, the Scorpios rex finds the campers in their hideout. In a thrilling game of "hide-and-seek," the dinosaur is suddenly drawn away to something more enticing.
- Accurate to a Season 3 episode of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, this Scorpios rex comes with swappable claws for a more aggressive look and a lower jaw piece with dripping venom.
- With real-looking eyes and teeth and posable joints and tail, this 17-inch long figure is ready for the spotlight in product photography or dramatic display.
- This Hammond Collection figure with its swappable parts will make a great addition to any Jurassic World collection for fans 8 years and older.
Dinosaurs, locations, buildings, and skins
Four added species
- Atrociraptor
- Lystrosaurus
- Oviraptor
- Moros Intrepidus
Three Mediterranean locations and themed construction
The campaign spans three Mediterranean locations, including one with a natural lagoon. The expansion also includes film-inspired structures such as an Acquisition Centre, viewing gallery, and hotel. Malta buildings can be used in Sandbox mode, so their value is not limited to the campaign. Steam’s content description lists the locations and structures.
Variants and skins
The pack adds film-inspired variants for Iguanodon, Allosaurus, and Dimorphodon, plus a scarred Carnotaurus skin. Atrociraptor has four movie-squad skins. These options add visual variety, but the main gameplay distinction remains the campaign and Exchange rather than the species count alone.

Is the Dominion Malta Expansion worth it?
It is the better fit for players who want a new campaign with persistent progress, faction relationships, and a trading system that connects multiple parks. Its four species, themed buildings, and skins are useful extras, especially if you also build in Sandbox mode. If you mainly want a large roster of dinosaurs or a major overhaul of the base game, the available reviews do not support expecting that kind of transformation. The purchase decision also depends on your platform’s current regional price; the launch prices are not current quotes.
