For SingStar on PlayStation 2, buy a SingStar microphone pack that includes its USB converter. For Karaoke Revolution, use a PS2-compatible USB microphone or headset supported by your exact game edition. Plug the accessory into a front USB port before starting the game; SingStar’s pack also requires matching the red and blue plugs to the converter.
Which microphone does each PS2 game need?

These are edition-specific instructions, not proof that every USB microphone works with every release. Regional versions can have different compatibility statements, so check the manual or packaging for the exact disc you own.
Buying a microphone for SingStar
Choose the complete SingStar pack
Search for a PS2 SingStar microphone pack with USB converter. The documented pack contains two wired microphones and the converter needed to connect them to the console. When buying used, confirm that the converter is in the box; microphones without it may not connect to a PS2.
Check the listing before paying
- It identifies PlayStation 2 compatibility.
- Both microphones are included if you want two-player singing.
- The USB converter is included and shown in the photographs.
- The plugs and cable are intact, with no missing receiver or adapter.
Buying a microphone for Karaoke Revolution
Match the exact edition
Look for a PS2-compatible USB microphone or headset that your game’s manual supports. The original Karaoke Revolution manual requires a PlayStation 2 headset/microphone. The Karaoke Revolution Country manual specifically lists the Karaoke Revolution microphone and a Logitech USB microphone as supported examples.

Do not assume cross-series compatibility
The manuals do not establish that a SingStar microphone works with every Karaoke Revolution release, that every generic USB microphone is recognized, or that support listed for one regional edition applies to all others. If the manual or box does not name the accessory or category, treat compatibility as unconfirmed.

How to connect the microphone on PS2
- Turn off the PS2 and identify the game edition and region.
- Connect the microphone, headset, or required converter to one of the console’s front USB ports.
- For the SingStar pack, insert the blue microphone plug into the blue converter socket and the red plug into the red socket.
- Start the game only after the accessory is connected. SingStar’s converter LED should light blue when a compatible game has loaded and the connections are correct.
- Begin a song and test the voice input before starting a full performance.
If the game does not hear your voice
- No microphone detected: quit the game, reseat the USB connection, and relaunch with the microphone already plugged in.
- One microphone works: check that the other colored plug is in its matching SingStar converter input and that the second microphone cable is fully seated.
- Voice is very quiet: hold the microphone close enough for the game to detect it and check that the television volume is audible.
- Loud howl or echo: move a SingStar microphone away from the television speaker to reduce feedback.
- Used accessory is incomplete: obtain the missing SingStar converter or any receiver specified by the listing; a bare microphone may be unusable on PS2.
