Kayak VR: Mirage is a VR-only kayaking game built around detailed scenery, changing weather and light, wildlife, and physics-based paddling. Its official listings promote cutting-edge graphics, but they do not establish an independent ranking against other VR games. The case for its visual appeal rests on what the game offers: immersive waterways to explore at your own pace, alongside timed courses that put its environments in motion.
What makes Kayak VR: Mirage look striking?
The official listings emphasize varied locations, multiple times of day, changing weather, and wildlife. Those details give the game more visual variety than a single scenic route: a familiar stretch of water can look different as conditions and lighting change. The developer also describes physics-based kayaking and realistic full-body movement, tying the view of the water to the player’s paddling.
That is a strong recipe for scenic VR, but “one of the best-looking” is an editorial judgment, not a verified industry ranking. The Steam store calls the graphics “cutting-edge,” and PlayStation uses similar promotional language; neither listing supplies a controlled comparison with other VR games.
How you can experience the scenery
Free roam and tour mode
Free roam is the natural choice for taking in a location without chasing a score. The listings also describe a controller-free tour mode that carries the kayak along preset paths, giving players another way to look around without actively paddling.

Which hardware do you need?
| Platform | What is required or supported |
|---|---|
| PC via SteamVR | Windows 10. Steam lists a Ryzen 1600 or Core i5-8600K, 8 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1070 or Radeon RX 5700 XT, DirectX 10, and 18 GB storage as minimum requirements. Recommended: Ryzen 3600 or Intel i5-9600K, 16 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 2080, DirectX 11, and 18 GB storage. The developer says the PC version supports FidelityFX and DLSS; DLSS is limited to NVIDIA RTX cards. |
| PS5 | PlayStation VR2 headset and PS VR2 Sense controllers are required. The listing includes sitting, standing, and room-scale play styles, with optional headset and controller vibration. |
The listings specify different hardware and features, but do not provide a controlled visual-quality comparison between PC and PS5. They therefore do not establish that one platform categorically looks better.

Comfort, play space, and online play
PlayStation lists comfort settings and sitting, standing, and room-scale options. Its PS VR2 listing specifies a 2 m × 2 m play area for room-scale play and warns that VR may cause motion sickness. Comfort options are available, but they are not a guarantee against discomfort for every player.
Online play is optional; PlayStation says PS Plus is required for online play. The game’s asynchronous leaderboard and real-time multiplayer features provide online ways to engage beyond solo exploration.

Do you need a paddle attachment?
No physical paddle accessory is specified as a requirement. The developer describes an optional setup in which players attach their controllers to a stick or mount to use them like a paddle: “Optionally transform your controllers into a paddle by attaching them to a stick or mount and take the immersion to the next level.” This is the official store description, not an endorsement of a particular accessory brand or model.
What locations are included, and what costs extra?
Soča Valley and Yucatán are separately sold DLC locations, and both are described as including whitewater. The PlayStation listing offers the base game, individual add-ons, and bundles; Steam lists the add-ons and a Complete Edition bundle. Prices and promotions vary or change, so check the relevant regional store listing for current offers.

Is it worth choosing for its graphics?
If you want a VR game focused on scenic water environments, changing conditions, wildlife, and the sensation of paddling, Kayak VR: Mirage has a clear visual appeal. Its free-roam and tour options suit players who want time to look around, while time attack and multiplayer add more active ways to experience the locations. The available official information supports that description—not a measured claim that it outranks other VR games visually.
