Kena: Scars of Kosmora is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PS5 and PC. No exact release date has been announced. The updated window replaces the game’s original 2026 target, and the confirmed formats are physical and digital on PS5 and digital on PC.
When is Kena: Scars of Kosmora coming out?
Ember Lab announced on October 1, 2026, that Kena: Scars of Kosmora will launch in 2027. The studio said moving the release gives it more time to polish the expanded experience. Neither a month nor a day has been confirmed. PlayStation’s announcement supersedes the February 2026 announcement, which had originally targeted a 2026 release.

The current storefront listings are less specific: the US PlayStation page says “Release date to be determined,” while Steam lists the game as “Coming soon.” These listings do not establish a launch date or preorder availability. PlayStation’s product page and Steam’s listing are the official pages to check for updates.

What is Kena: Scars of Kosmora about?
Kena is now an accomplished Spirit Guide. She travels to the island of Kosmora seeking answers about an affliction she has endured throughout her life and hoping to reconnect with her childhood friend Orfio. A powerful spirit fractures her staff, which had also been keeping her alive. Kena must learn Kosmora’s forgotten elemental approach to Spirit Guiding to face what lies ahead.
Kosmorans once practiced an ancient form of Spirit Guiding built around four elements and Alchemystic Temples. Four interconnected cultures thrived on the island before a mysterious cataclysm destroyed one; the island is also home to living cultures with their own histories, values, and struggles. The temples are presented as dungeon experiences with challenges and rewards.

How does the gameplay work?
PlayStation describes the game as a story-driven action-adventure with fast-paced combat. Ember Lab calls it a character-focused linear adventure with a broader and deeper scope than Kena: Bridge of Spirits, while noting that players can explore away from the main path. A larger island and mount do not make it an officially described open-world game.
- Elemental Spirit Companions: They grow and unlock powers as Kena’s bond with them deepens. Their abilities support puzzles, combat, and traversal.
- Combat and challenges: The game features new elemental abilities, Spirit Guide techniques, varied encounters, and epic bosses.
- Crystalline canine spirit: This companion is tied to the island’s origin. It serves as a mount, helps in combat on foot and while mounted, and assists with Alchemystic puzzles.

For now, the confirmed plan is a 2027 launch on PS5 and PC, with PS5 physical and digital versions and a digital PC version. The PlayStation and Steam listings currently provide no more precise timing.
