Its creators described it as an anti-stress game and said revenue would support Ukrainian defenders, but those were launch-era claims—not proof of clinical benefit or documented charitable transfers.
What is Kick the Pu?
Kick the Pu was an adventure-style mobile game reported by Ukrainian technology publication DOU on December 26, 2022. In its debut version, players could interact with Vladimir Putin, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko, a Kadyrovite and a Russian mobilized soldier. The game included attacks with a knife, automatic weapon, grenade and grenade launcher, according to DOU’s launch coverage. DOU’s December 2022 report described it as an anti-stress game.
The title and its deliberately confrontational gameplay made the game a piece of wartime political expression as well as entertainment. It was not a conventional combat simulator: its reported premise centered on letting players vent anger at recognizable antagonists.
Who made the game?
DOU described the project as a collaboration between Ukrainian IT workers and Belarusian programmers who had left Belarus amid persecution. Developer Vlad Sen told DOU that the volunteer team formed in March 2022 and had an initial version ready in April. His stated motivation was: “У березні 2022 року ми вирішили зробити просту антистрес-гру в якій кожен українець зміг би познущатися з путіна.”

That account is Sen’s description of the project, as quoted by DOU. The publication also reported that submissions to app stores had been rejected repeatedly before the game was published. Its launch article linked to both stores and said the game was available everywhere except Russia and Belarus; that describes the reported situation in December 2022, not current availability.
Can you still download Kick the Pu?
Android availability has changed since launch. AppBrain, a third-party app tracker, identifies the Android app as Kick the Pu: Beat Dictator, version 1.31, and reports that it was unpublished from Google Play on January 9, 2024. AppBrain lists November 24, 2023, as its last update. These details are from AppBrain’s app profile; they do not establish whether an APK can be obtained safely elsewhere.

What did the game cost, and was its revenue donated?
December 2022 coverage by DOU and Mezha reported two monetization options: a free version supported by advertising and a $0.99 premium version. Developers said most advertising revenue would go to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while all proceeds from the premium version would support treatment for wounded Ukrainian defenders. They also said they planned to publish transfer reports through Telegram. Mezha’s launch report describes those intentions.

DOU quoted psychologist Iryna Tarasova of the Therapy of Win social-psychological support and rehabilitation center discussing how virtual interaction with antagonists and rapid button-pressing might offer an emotional outlet. She said: “По-перше, через фрустрацію, як прояв накопиченої агресії у гравця на ворога, негативні емоції вивільняються на доступний вже віртуальний об’єкт гри.”
