To complete Bellatores in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, finish the main quest “Speak of the Devil,” meet Jan Posy in Bylany, and follow him on horseback as soon as you agree to help. At Zimburg, you can attempt a lower-exposure night rescue or fight the Cumans openly. This walkthrough covers the ambush, the priest clue, Miroslav’s rescue, and the follow-up quest.
How to start Bellatores
Bellatores is a side quest in the Kuttenberg region. It becomes available after Main Quest 14, “Speak of the Devil.” Travel to Bylany and speak with Jan Posy of Zimburg. Agree to help, then mount a horse and follow him immediately: the PowerPyx walkthrough warns that the quest fails if Jan rides away and you do not follow him. PowerPyx’s Bellatores walkthrough was published February 9, 2025.

What to do at the ambush site
Negotiate with or fight the looters
At the ambush site, looters are taking goods from the carts and bodies. You can try a speech check to stop Jan from attacking them. The available checks and their difficulty depend on the dialogue option and your character; the walkthroughs do not establish one guaranteed line for every build. If you fail the check or prefer not to negotiate, prepare to fight. A halberd leaning against the front of a covered cart is optional, not a quest requirement.
Find the priest and report back
Look just off the road beside the river for the priest among the fallen. Investigate the body, then tell Jan what you found. One walkthrough places the stream east of the site, but use the quest marker and visible river as your guide if your map position differs.

Follow the trail to Zimburg
Ride with Jan as he follows the trail. A woman points you toward the nearby ruins, where the Cumans are holding Miroslav. Continue with Jan to the Ruins of Zimburg; the quest then shifts from tracking the trail to planning the rescue.
Choose an approach to the Cuman camp
Speak with Jan near the camp. Available speech options let you propose going alone and/or waiting until night. PowerPyx and LUDO.guide recommend a night-time solo approach as a way to reduce exposure to open fighting; LUDO.guide also mentions a Nighthawk potion as an optional aid. These are walkthrough recommendations, not guarantees that stealth will succeed.
| Approach | What it means | Main consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Solo at night | Use the conversation with Jan to go alone and wait for night, then try to reach the captive quietly. | Follows the guides’ lower-exposure recommendation, but depends on avoiding detection. |
| Attack with Jan | Take on the camp in open combat, either by choice or after stealth breaks down. | Expect direct fighting against the Cuman camp rather than a quiet entry. |
Guide descriptions differ over the captive’s name in one summary. Follow the in-game quest journal and dialogue, which identify the rescue target as Miroslav.
Free Miroslav and finish the quest
Make your way to the underground area in the center of the ruins and untie Miroslav. LUDO.guide says to give him a weapon. After that, you can continue stealthily or fight any remaining Cumans openly. Return to the post-rescue scene to complete Bellatores; PowerPyx lists the reward as 500 Groschen.
Where to find the Bellatores follow-up
Return to the Ruins of Zimburg after around five in-game days and look for Jan’s follow-up quest, “Skeleton in the Closet.” According to PowerPyx’s follow-up walkthrough, the task involves clearing a Cuman camp and recovering a Zimburg reliquary from a locked chest in a large red tent. The chest can be opened by lockpicking or with a key carried by a named enemy.
The quest details here come from secondary walkthroughs, not first-party quest documentation. Their pages do not establish that every check, tactic, or outcome works identically across all platforms and patches.
