Replacing half a game-development team with AI is a “fundamentally flawed idea,” Warhorse Studios co-founder Martin Klíma said, according to PC Gamer’s October 6, 2026 report. His argument is that AI could help a team make a bigger game rather than shrink the team: players will still want more missions, branching classes and other content.
What Klíma said about AI and game-development jobs
Klíma was responding to the idea that a studio could lay off half its staff and replace them with AI. PC Gamer quoted him calling that notion “a fundamentally flawed idea, because it doesn’t work like that.”

His reasoning is about what studios might do with the work AI can assist with. Instead of reducing headcount, developers could use the added capacity to make larger games. Klíma gave more branching classes and more missions as examples of what players might expect from a bigger game. That is his view of how AI could affect production, not proof that studios will keep their teams intact or expand their games.
Is Warhorse using AI to make games?
Warhorse has distinguished between using AI during production and putting AI-generated material in a released game. In a reported Reddit AMA, the studio said some team members find AI useful in early production, but that it does not use AI-generated content in the final game and has no plans to change that. The statement does not say which tools or tasks are involved in early production.

That position addresses the studio’s stated approach to game content; it does not settle questions about an individual employee’s job. A former translator, identified in PCGamesN’s reporting as Max H., said his position would become obsolete in favor of AI translation. Warhorse said it would not discuss individual personnel situations.
What Warhorse has said about human translators
GamesRadar+ reported that creative director Prokop Jirsa declined to comment on any present or past employee, calling that an internal HR matter. In the same report, Jirsa said Warhorse planned to have the same number of human translators as it had for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and was hiring new translators. GameSpot’s account of the Reddit AMA likewise said the studio was hiring English translators who would be “actual humans.”

Those public comments provide context about the studio’s stated translation plans, but they do not independently establish all the circumstances behind the former translator’s employment decision. Nor does that individual case show that AI replaced a game-development team.
