If Kingdom Come: Deliverance II crashes on PS5, first identify whether the console shuts down, the game fails to start with error CE-109573-5, or the game simply closes while the PS5 stays on. PLAION’s game-specific checklist is for crashes that shut down the console; it is not a guaranteed fix for every crash pattern. Work through the steps that match your symptom, and back up saved data before using Safe Mode.
Identify what is crashing
PLAION’s PS5: Crash and Shutdown guide addresses the case where the game crashes and the PS5 shuts down by itself. That is different from an application crash where the console remains on.

- The game will not start and displays CE-109573-5: Use Sony’s error-specific steps in the section below.
- The game closes but the console stays on, or the symptom differs: Neither official guide establishes a definitive cause for every such case. Note any error message and contact PLAION if the steps here do not apply or help.
Try PLAION’s steps for a crash that shuts down the PS5
1. Check whether the issue is limited to this game
If you play from disc, test other discs in the PS5. If other games also cause trouble, the problem may not be limited to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. PLAION also directs players to review points 1–6 in Sony’s guide to game freezes and crashes.
2. Back up saved data before Safe Mode
Before using Safe Mode options, back up your saved data to USB storage or cloud storage. PLAION warns that some Safe Mode options can result in data loss. It also notes that restoring console data disables Console Sharing and Offline Play; if you restore data, enable those settings again to avoid losing access to subscriptions and content.

3. Clear the cache and rebuild the database
- Turn off the PS5 completely.
- Press and hold the console’s power button until you hear the second beep to enter Safe Mode.
- Connect the DualSense controller to the console with a USB cable.
- Select Clear Cache and Rebuild Database, then choose Clear System Software Cache and Rebuild Database as PLAION describes.
- Restart the game and check whether the shutdown recurs.
Safe Mode menus can change with system software. Follow the current on-screen instructions from PlayStation if the wording or available options differ.
4. Check the PS5’s setup and video settings
- Install the latest PS5 system software update.
- Place the console where air can circulate freely, and clear dust or debris from its vents.
- If the PS5 is vertical, try placing it horizontally.
- If you replaced the console’s SSD, check that it has a heatsink.
- In Game Presets, try Performance Mode.
- Set VRR, 120Hz Output, and ALLM to Automatic. If the issue continues, PLAION also suggests trying 120Hz Output disabled.
5. Reinstall the game if the problem continues
PLAION lists reinstalling Kingdom Come: Deliverance II as a further troubleshooting step. Reinstall only after trying the checks above; reinstalling is not presented as a guaranteed solution.

If the game shows error CE-109573-5 when starting
Sony’s CE-109573-5 support page covers an error that occurs when starting a game. Its procedure is specific to that error, rather than a general fix for all in-game crashes.
- Restart the PS5.
- Delete the game from Game Library and reinstall it.
- If the issue remains, rebuild the database.
- If it still continues, return to Safe Mode and update the system software.
