How to start Forbidden Fruit
Complete Materia Prima, then speak with Miller Kreyzl at Lower Semine Mill in the Trosky region. He gives Henry the saltpetre task that begins Forbidden Fruit. The quest’s intended route uses Bonnie, who is southeast of the mill, and gravedigger Ignatius, who is east of Troskowitz. PowerPyx’s walkthrough and the KCD2 100% Completion Hub guide both describe this progression.

Walkthrough: follow Ignatius to the saltpetre pit
- Speak to Bonnie. Find her southeast of Lower Semine Mill and ask about the saltpetre pit. Her information points you toward Ignatius.
- Meet Ignatius east of Troskowitz. Speak to the gravedigger and accompany him on his rounds. This is the intended route to the pit and the route associated with the optional Knacker’s gloves reward.
- Retrieve the carcass at the ruined farm. Follow Ignatius’s directions and the quest marker to the ruined farm, then deal with the farm hands as the objective requires.
- Choose whether to investigate the contamination. The investigation of the infection’s source is optional. If you take it, search the marked area and report what you find to Ignatius. Walkthroughs describe the source differently—as rotten deer corpses upstream or a source near the farm’s water hole—so follow the in-game marker and search area rather than relying on one landmark description.
- Collect the pig carcasses. Continue through the farm objective and gather the carcasses as prompted.
- Resolve the dog encounter. Bonnie can help you avoid killing the greengrocer’s dog. Use the dialogue choices below if you want the nonlethal outcome.
- Reach and taste the saltpetre. Continue with Ignatius to the pit and follow the objective to taste the saltpetre. Ignatius can give Henry Knacker’s gloves here if you followed his route.
- Return to Kreyzl. Report back to Miller Kreyzl at Lower Semine Mill to finish the quest and receive the completion rewards.
Should you follow Ignatius or go straight to the pit?
According to PowerPyx, it is possible to head directly to the pit and bypass Bonnie’s and Ignatius’s objectives. That shortcut skips the opportunity to receive Knacker’s gloves from Ignatius. For a completionist run or a playthrough that values the extra reward, take the gravedigger route instead.
How to save the dog in Forbidden Fruit for Lent
When Bonnie offers a way to handle the dog without killing it, choose “I asked you first”, followed by “I don’t want to kill him.” The guides report that Bonnie then takes the dog and the quest can continue. Ignatius may be displeased and Henry’s reputation may drop, but the route still leads to the pit.

#1 Best Overall
PowerPyx warns that killing animals can lock Henry out of the Lent trophy or achievement, specifically naming this dog. The 2026 KCD2 100% Completion Hub guide likewise recommends saving the dog to preserve Lent. Treat this as a walkthrough-reported missable warning; the cited guides, rather than an official achievement note, are the basis for it.
Forbidden Fruit rewards
| When | Reward | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| At the saltpetre pit | Knacker’s gloves; Survival and Vitality XP | Reported as an Ignatius reward for following the gravedigger route. |
| After reporting to Kreyzl | 85 Groschen; Vitality and Stealth skill XP; With the Silence of a Cat II skill book | Quest-completion rewards reported by the cited walkthroughs. |
What comes after Forbidden Fruit?
Opus Magnum follows in Kreyzl’s questline. Forbidden Fruit also contributes to the broader route toward Wedding Crashers, but completing this quest alone does not secure the wedding invitation; further progression is required.
