1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteko0c0001.dll is most strongly associated with an older KONICA MINOLTA printer-driver package, especially the C650/C550 XPS driver, rather than with Windows itself. The safest fix is to remove the affected printer and reinstall its complete driver package through Windows Update or the official KONICA MINOLTA support centre instead of downloading the DLL separately.
What this file actually does
ko0c0001.dll is a printer-driver component used during printer installation, printing, and Windows print-spooler activity. Public package listings associate it with the KONICA MINOLTA C650/C550 XPS package, alongside files such as prnkm003.inf, prnkm003.cat, and model-specific printer files.
That does not prove that every release of every C650, C550, C451, or CommonDriver package contains the same DLL. It does establish the practical repair direction: treat the error as a damaged, incomplete, incompatible, or orphaned KONICA MINOLTA driver installation.
It is not established as a general Windows runtime, Visual C++ file, DirectX component, or .NET file. Some file-index pages label it as a Microsoft Windows file, but a printer-specific DLL may have been distributed through Windows driver channels without being authored by Microsoft.

The filename may appear in messages such as:
- “The program can’t start because ko0c0001.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “Error loading ko0c0001.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “Failed to load ko0c0001.dll.”
- “ko0c0001.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
- “Cannot register ko0c0001.dll.”
The exact wording depends on which Windows component, installer, spooler process, or printer utility requested it.
Causes and symptoms
| What you see | Most likely cause | Best response |
|---|---|---|
| Error appears while printing | Damaged or incomplete KONICA MINOLTA driver package | Remove the printer and reinstall the full package |
| Error appears after a Windows upgrade | Old driver retained during migration | Remove the old queue and driver, then install a compatible package |
| Error appears when adding the printer | Wrong architecture or incomplete installer | Match the package to x86, x64, or ARM64 Windows |
| The printer disappeared but the error remains | Stale queue, driver store entry, or startup reference | Remove the printer and its obsolete driver package |
| Defender recently detected the file | Quarantine or false positive | Check Protection history, then reinstall from a trusted source |
| “Specified module could not be found” appears although the file exists | A dependency of the DLL may be missing | Reinstall the complete driver package rather than copying the DLL |
| Several Windows features are failing | Possible Windows component corruption | Run DISM, then SFC |
| The error started after installing a driver | Recent driver or registry change | Use System Restore if a suitable restore point exists |
Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the KONICA MINOLTA printer
This is the most likely solution because the DLL belongs to a driver package, not a standalone application.
Remove the printer in Windows 11
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected KONICA MINOLTA printer.
- Choose Remove or Remove device.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows.
Remove the printer in Windows 10
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the KONICA MINOLTA printer.
- Choose Remove device.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows.
After restarting, return to Printers & scanners and select Add device. Let Windows search for the printer first. If Windows Update offers a driver, install it and print a test page.
If the printer is not detected:
- Select Add device.
- Wait for the search to finish.
- Choose Add manually.
- Select the correct connection method and port.
- Choose Windows Update if it offers the correct manufacturer and model.
- Use Have Disk only when you have downloaded the complete driver package from the official KONICA MINOLTA support or download centre.
- Complete the installation.
- Open the printer queue and select Print test page from the printer properties.
A successful repair normally means the error no longer appears during startup or printing, the queue opens normally, and the test page prints without a DLL message.

Remove a stale driver package
Removing the visible printer does not always remove its driver. If the same error returns:

- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
printui /s /t2. - Press Enter.
- Open the Drivers tab.
- Select the obsolete KONICA MINOLTA driver.
- Choose Remove.
- Select Remove driver and driver package when offered.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the correct driver.
Do not remove a driver that is still used by another working printer. If Windows refuses to remove it, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, remove every queue using that driver, restart the Print Spooler service, and try again.
To restart the spooler:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
services.msc. - Press Enter.
- Find Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and select Restart.
Fix 2: Match the driver to Windows architecture
A 32-bit DLL is not interchangeable with a 64-bit driver component. Windows may also require a package specifically targeting ARM64 systems.

One-click scans. No signup required.
To check your Windows architecture:
- Open Start > Settings > System > About.
- Find System type.
- Note whether Windows is x64-based, x86-based, or ARM64-based.
Download a driver that explicitly supports that architecture and the exact printer model. An older C650/C550 XPS package may predate Windows 10 or Windows 11 and may not be signed, supported, or compatible with current Windows releases. Do not assume that a driver that worked on Windows 7 is suitable for a newer system.
When comparing packages, use the driver name, printer model, Windows version, and architecture. Do not rely on a DLL filename alone.
Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of hunting through driver versions and checking which installed drivers are stale. Its free scan shows what it identifies, while driver installation is handled by the full version; for this file, the official KONICA MINOLTA package remains the definitive source.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine
Windows Security may have removed or quarantined a driver component. Check this before copying files from the internet.
- Open Start.
- Search for Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries related to
ko0c0001.dll, the KONICA MINOLTA driver, or the printer installer. - Open an entry to inspect its path and action.
- If the file came from an official, trusted driver package and its signature is valid, follow Windows Security’s restore or allow option.
- If its origin is unclear, leave it blocked and reinstall the complete driver from the official manufacturer source.
Microsoft notes that restoring a quarantined file can cause Defender to detect it again if it is still considered unsafe. Reinstalling the driver is preferable to restoring an isolated file. Microsoft explains these actions in its Protection History guidance.

Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and System File Checker repair Windows component corruption and protected Windows files. They will not necessarily reconstruct a third-party KONICA MINOLTA driver package, so use them after checking the printer installation.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the printer again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If SFC reports that it repaired files, test Windows and the printer. If both commands complete without resolving the error, return to the driver removal and reinstall procedure rather than repeatedly running the same commands. Microsoft’s instructions are available in its System File Checker and DISM guide.
Outbyte PC Repair can make the manual process of checking Windows problems and repeating repair scans easier; its free scan shows what it finds, while repair is completed by the full version. It is optional, and it does not replace reinstalling the KONICA MINOLTA driver when that package is the actual source of the missing DLL.

Device Manager can help when Windows retains a printer or an unidentified driver component.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and, if present, Other devices.
- Look for the KONICA MINOLTA printer or an entry with a warning icon.
- Right-click the relevant device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the printer through Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
Device Manager is useful for removing a device association, but it is not a substitute for removing the complete printer driver package. Use printui /s /t2 as well if the error persists.
Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent driver change
If printing worked until a driver or Windows-related change, System Restore may undo the change.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Confirm the restore point.
- Select Finish and allow Windows to restart.
System Restore can roll back drivers, registry settings, system files, and installed programs without normally affecting personal files. After the rollback, prevent the same damaged driver from returning by reinstalling a compatible package. Microsoft describes the process in its System Restore guidance.

Do not copy the DLL or run regsvr32
Do not download ko0c0001.dll from a random DLL repository and copy it into C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or an application folder. The file may have the wrong architecture, an unverified build, malware, or missing dependencies. Copying it can also bypass the driver’s INF, catalog, registry entries, and model files.
regsvr32 is generally not appropriate here. It is intended for DLLs that expose a COM registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer; a printer-driver support DLL installed through an INF package is not automatically a COM server. Running:
regsvr32 ko0c0001.dll
is therefore unlikely to repair this problem and may produce another misleading error. Microsoft documents the command in its regsvr32 reference.
Windows Features are also not the normal repair path. Enabling .NET, DirectPlay, or Visual C++ components will not restore a missing KONICA MINOLTA driver DLL unless a separate error specifically identifies one of those components.
If the error says “the specified module could not be found”
That message does not always mean the named DLL itself is absent. Windows may have found ko0c0001.dll but failed to load a dependency required by it.
The practical response is still to reinstall the complete, architecture-matched driver package. Then check:

FAQ
Is ko0c0001.dll a Microsoft Windows system file?
It is not established as a normal Windows system DLL. The evidence points to a KONICA MINOLTA printer-driver component, even though some public metadata labels it as Microsoft-related.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Which printers use it?
It is publicly associated most clearly with the older KONICA MINOLTA C650/C550 XPS package. Other older models or driver releases may use related components, but every release should not be assumed to contain the same binary.
Should I place it in System32 or SysWOW64?
No. Install the complete printer package and let Windows place its files correctly. Neither directory is a universal destination for printer DLLs.
Will Windows Update fix it?
It may. Windows Update is the preferred first source for a compatible printer driver. If it does not offer the required package, use the official KONICA MINOLTA download centre.
Should I run SFC?
Run DISM followed by SFC when broader Windows corruption is suspected. For an isolated printer-driver problem, complete driver removal and reinstallation is usually more relevant.
