Both iPhone and Android can send a live video to YouTube with Larix Broadcaster. YouTube lists Larix for both platforms; the basic workflow is the same: create or select a stream in YouTube Studio, then enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in Larix. The available sources do not show that either platform produces a better stream overall. Your phone model, accessories, network, and the Larix features you need matter more than the operating-system label.
What differs between Larix on iPhone and Android?
The broad YouTube connection workflow is shared, but Larix’s current store listings do not describe identical feature sets. Treat those listings as publisher claims, not as a controlled comparison of the two apps.

There is no same-phone, same-network test in the available evidence to establish comparative image quality, latency, stability, heat, battery life, or sustained upload performance. A difference between two streams may come from the specific phones, operating-system versions, connection, or accessories rather than Larix itself.
Set up Larix Broadcaster for a YouTube live stream
- Create or select the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live and create a stream or select one in Live Control Room. Returning creators may see prior settings, including a stream key, load again.
- Copy the connection details. Get the YouTube Live server URL and stream key for the stream you selected. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your stream. Do not share it publicly.
- Set the destination in Larix. Enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key as the destination. Softvelum’s guidance specifies video-plus-audio mode and an appropriate bitrate; it does not establish one bitrate that is right for every phone, network, resolution, or stream.
- Check picture and sound before sharing. Use Larix and YouTube’s live preview to confirm the video arrives and audio is audible. If the preview is missing, verify the URL and key and make sure the selected stream is the one you intended.
- Stabilize the shot and audio if needed. A compatible phone mount can help with fixed framing. For speech-focused events, consider an external microphone or audio interface after checking the phone’s ports, adapters, and audio route. These are optional setup choices, not tested product recommendations.
Which phone should you use?
Choose by the feature you need
If you need a specific protocol, codec, multi-camera capture, multistreaming, adaptive bitrate, HEVC encoding, or watermark removal, check the current Larix listing and Premium terms for your operating system. The Android listing specifically limits its listed multi-camera capture feature to Android 11 and newer. Do not assume that a feature named in one platform’s listing is also available on the other.

Check the whole phone setup
Before committing to a phone for a long event, check the exact device and OS version, camera and audio connections, cable or adapter, mount, and network upload capacity. The available sources do not compare camera sensors, thermal performance, supported accessories, battery endurance, or sustained upload performance across iPhone and Android devices.
Compare current app-store terms
Both store listings currently describe Premium at $9.99/month and mention feature or streaming limits that Premium addresses. Prices, availability, and plan terms can change; verify the current listing in your local store before buying.

Troubleshoot a Larix-to-YouTube connection
- YouTube does not receive video: Check that the server URL and stream key in Larix belong to the selected stream in Live Control Room. Re-enter them if needed and confirm the stream is active in YouTube.
- Video arrives but sound does not: Confirm Larix is using video-plus-audio mode, check microphone permission and the selected audio input, and test the phone’s audio route before going live.
- The stream starts but the picture or sound is unreliable: Check the network connection and use a bitrate suitable for the available upload connection. The cited setup guidance does not give a universal bitrate target.
- A listed feature is missing: Confirm the feature is offered for your operating system and app version, check whether the listing assigns it to Premium, and verify any OS requirement. For example, the Android listing specifies Android 11 or newer for its multi-camera capture feature.
- An external mic or interface is not detected: Check compatibility with the exact phone, port, cable or adapter, app permissions, and selected audio input. Accessory compatibility is not established uniformly across devices.
