It’s an island-flying adventure built around exploration, races and challenges—not a confirmed award nominee; the “Game of the Year contender” label has not been substantiated by an award source.
What is Laya’s Horizon?
Created by Snowman and listed on Google Play under Netflix, Inc., Laya’s Horizon is an open-world adventure inspired by wingsuit flying. You steer through the air with the character’s arms and enchanted capes, exploring an island while taking on races, obstacle courses, missions and other challenges. The Google Play listing describes unlockable capes and charms that change flying abilities.
Netflix’s listing reports more than 50 missions, over 40 challenge levels and more than 100 collectables. Those are the publisher’s stated game-content counts, not independently verified totals.
How to get it on Android
The Google Play listing says the game is “Available exclusively for Netflix members.” Installing the app alone therefore does not establish access; you need the required Netflix membership.

Can you play with a controller?
The listing says an improved gamepad experience supports most menus, while settings and full map control are still forthcoming. A controller is optional: the game also describes independent thumb controls. Since support is partial, do not assume every controller or screen is supported.

What “now available” means
Android availability is not new: Droid Life reported the Android and iOS launch on May 2, 2023. The current Play Store listing supplies the separate, more recent update detail. The supplied “Game of the Year contender” framing should be read as opinion, not evidence of a formal nomination or award; no award source is established here.
