The order weighs each champion’s distinctive identity, gameplay versatility, and appeal, with learning curve as a consideration. Competitive strength changes by patch and role, so it needs a separate, current-data comparison.
Who counts as a Yordle in League of Legends?
Riot’s Legends of Runeterra Bandle City overview identifies Poppy, Tristana, Veigar, Ziggs, Fizz, Teemo, Heimerdinger, Lulu, Kennen, Rumble, and Gnar as Yordles, and says they call Bandle City home but may be found elsewhere in Runeterra. Because that page is for Legends of Runeterra, it is useful for character identity but is not, by itself, proof of a complete playable League roster.
This ranking covers those eleven characters as League champions. Norra appears on the Legends of Runeterra page, but the sources cited here do not establish her as a playable League champion. Amumu is sometimes discussed in connection with Yordles, but the League of Legends Wiki describes his status as intentionally ambiguous; he is excluded rather than treated as a confirmed Yordle.

The order below is editorial judgment, not a ranking published or endorsed by Riot. It favors champions whose identity is memorable and whose play patterns offer a satisfying mix of distinction and usefulness. It does not predict performance in a particular role or patch.

1. Poppy
Riot calls Poppy the “Keeper of the Hammer.” Her straightforward identity—a steadfast fighter wielding an oversized hammer—makes her one of the roster’s clearest character concepts. Her place near the top reflects how strongly that identity translates into a distinct champion, not a claim that she is currently the best-performing Yordle.

2. Lulu
Lulu’s mischievous magical persona is expressed through Pix, her faerie companion, and abilities including Whimsy and Wild Growth. Riot lists her roles as Support / Mage and her difficulty as Medium, giving readers concrete context for her intended play style without settling how she compares competitively with other champions.

3. Veigar
The “Tiny Master of Evil” is a strong example of character and gameplay reinforcing one another: his comic villainy is central to his appeal. He earns a high spot for a recognizable concept and a rewarding sense of menace, though the ranking does not imply he is the strongest mage on any given patch.

4. Tristana
Riot’s “Yordle Gunner” is an immediately legible action-hero archetype. Tristana’s focused identity and energetic style make her one of the easiest champions on this list to summarize and recognize, even for readers who do not follow the lore closely.

The “Revered Inventor” stands apart through a scientist-and-gadgets concept rather than a conventional fighter or trickster persona. That makes him distinctive within the Yordle cast. His ranking reflects the strength of that identity, not a claim about his present balance or success in a particular lane.

6. Teemo
Riot calls Teemo the “Swift Scout.” His cheerful scout persona has become one of the roster’s most recognizable identities, and the gap between that presentation and the frustration he can cause opponents is part of his enduring appeal. This is a character-and-gameplay judgment, not an assessment of current win rate.

The “Hexplosives Expert” has an unusually cohesive theme: explosives are not just visual flavor but the center of his identity. Ziggs is a natural pick for readers who like exaggerated, high-energy characters, though his placement here says nothing about how he stacks up in a specific role today.

Riot’s “Missing Link” has a compelling contrast at the heart of his character. That premise gives him a place among the roster’s more memorable concepts, even if this ranking gives greater weight to the champions whose identities read most clearly at a glance.

The “Heart of the Tempest” brings a lightning-themed ninja identity to the group. Kennen’s concept is distinct, but in this subjective list he lands below champions whose personalities or themes feel more immediately singular across the wider roster.

Riot calls Rumble the “Mechanized Menace,” a fitting label for a Yordle whose defining image is tied to a machine. The combination gives him a recognizable niche, although this ranking places more emphasis on character concepts that need less context to stand out.

11. Fizz
Riot’s “Tidal Trickster” is an amphibious, sea-themed character associated with Bilgewater as well as Bandle City. Fizz rounds out this list because his identity feels less central to the familiar Bandle City Yordle grouping than the others’—not because the ranking establishes anything about his competitive value.
Which Yordle is strongest?
There is no reliable evergreen answer. “Strongest” depends on the patch, role, and the performance measure being used; comparing champions across different roles without those qualifications can mislead. Riot’s Data Dragon documentation describes versioned champion summary and individual data files, including information such as lore, tips, stats, spells, and recommended items. A current strength ranking would need to define its patch and compare champions within appropriate roles using current performance data.
Is this the definitive ranking?
No. Riot’s official descriptions and character groupings help establish who these champions are, but Riot does not supply an endorsed order of preference here. A reader who values lore, ease of learning, favorite role, or patch-specific results may reasonably produce a different list. The ranking above is a broad editorial take, not an objective measure of quality.
