The Ionian ADC in the headline is Yunara, a marksman whose story and weapons are tied to Ionia. She was released in July 2025, but she is no longer League of Legends’ newest champion: Riot introduced Locke in June 2026.
Who is Yunara?
Yunara is a League of Legends champion devoted to Ionia. Riot’s champion profile says she spent centuries in the spirit realm honing her skills with the Aion Er’na, a Kinkou relic. The profile classifies her as a Marksman.

Is Yunara an ADC?
Yes. Riot described Yunara as a “traditional, auto attack-based ADC” in its June 9, 2025 developer update. That description identifies her as an attack-focused marksman; it is not a claim about her current competitive strength or a guarantee of a particular lane in every game.
When was Yunara released?
Riot’s Patch 25.14 notes say Yunara arrived on the Rift on July 16, 2025, at 22:00 Romanian time in that regional edition. Riot’s Champion Spotlight index lists a June 24, 2025 date for her spotlight; that is the promotional feature date, not her live release date.

Is Yunara still the newest League champion?
No. Riot’s Patch 26.13 notes introduce Locke as a new champion in June 2026, making the “newest” wording in the original headline outdated as of October 8, 2026. Yunara nevertheless remained part of the live roster in Riot’s October 6, 2026 Patch 26.20 notes, which include balance changes to her Q and W.
What are Yunara’s abilities?
Riot’s champion profile lists these abilities:
- Passive: Vow of the First Lands
- Q: Cultivation of Spirit
- W: Arc of Judgment | Arc of Ruin
- E: Kanmei’s Steps | Untouchable Shadow
- R: Transcend One’s Self
The same profile says her critical strikes deal bonus magic damage. Ability names and that passive description establish the basic outline, but they do not by themselves explain how to use each ability or how her current numbers work. For the October 2026 patch context, consult Riot’s Patch 26.20 notes rather than relying on an undated build or an old ability breakdown.

What does “newest Ionian ADC” mean here?
“Ionian” refers to Yunara’s story and devotion to Ionia; “ADC” is Riot’s own description of her traditional, auto-attack-based marksman role. The phrase does not mean that she is the newest champion now, nor does it provide evidence about her win rate, tier-list standing, or best build.
