Riot reported on September 29, 2026, that it had temporarily disabled transfers to some regions because of a patch-version difference. That notice does not say which destinations were affected, confirm that a particular account is under investigation, or establish that the restriction remains active on October 8, 2026. Check Riot’s live North America service status before treating it as a current outage.
What Riot has—and has not—confirmed
Riot Games’ North America League of Legends service-status notice dated September 29, 2026, states: “We have temporarily disabled transfers to some regions due to a difference in patch versions.” The notice describes a temporary service restriction affecting some destinations. It does not identify those regions or say that an individual player’s account has been flagged for an investigation. Check Riot’s North America League of Legends service status for current notices; available status snapshots do not settle whether the September restriction was still active on October 8, 2026.
The phrase “North America transfers under investigation” also appears in a third-party explainer, but its explanation is not corroborated by the Riot materials available here. Treat it as an unverified interpretation, not Riot’s diagnosis of your account. No substantiated count of affected accounts or regions is available.
What to do if your transfer fails
- Save the exact error. Record its wording and take a screenshot before closing the message. Check Riot’s live North America service-status page to see whether a transfer notice is posted.
- Check the route. Riot says transfer availability depends on the source region and that transfers are started in the in-game store. Confirm your current server and intended destination against Riot’s account transfer FAQ; do not assume every destination is available from North America.
- Contact Player Support if the FAQ does not explain the failure. Include your account name, Riot ID, email, current server, intended destination server, and the screenshot of the error, as Riot’s transfer troubleshooting guidance requests. A ticket lets support assess the issue, but does not establish a guaranteed outcome or resolution time.
Ordinary transfer timing versus an account-specific review
Riot’s transfer FAQ says most transfers should be nearly instantaneous. That guidance describes ordinary transfers; it does not give a timeline for an account-specific review or explain the September patch-version restriction. The available official notice does not confirm that an individual account is under investigation, so do not infer a review solely from the broad status message.

If you suspect someone accessed your account
A failed transfer alone is not proof of account compromise. If you see separate signs of unauthorized access, follow Riot’s account-protection guidance and submit a support ticket. Use Riot’s official support and login pages, verify the login URL, and never share your password with someone promising to fix a transfer.
Riot’s account recovery guidance says support may request details such as the email attached to the account, date of birth, account creation date and location, or a transaction ID to locate and verify ownership. Provide sensitive ownership information only through official Riot support channels. A ticket gives an agent visibility into account status, but Riot does not guarantee resolution.
