Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered launched on December 10, 2024. It is a two-game collection featuring remastered versions of Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2—not a new sequel—with updated presentation, control options and archive extras.
What games are included?
The collection contains Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, the Crystal Dynamics games remastered and published by Aspyr. It brings both adventures together rather than continuing the story with a new game. Aspyr’s product page lists the included titles and describes the collection.
When did it launch, and what platforms are available?
The collection was released on December 10, 2024. The announced platforms were Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via Steam. Crystal Dynamics’ announcement lists the launch date and platforms; the US PlayStation Store listing confirms PS4 and PS5, and Nintendo UK’s listing confirms Switch.
Nintendo UK lists a 10.6 GB download for its regional Switch listing; that figure should not be assumed to apply to other platforms or regions. The US PlayStation Store describes basic subtitles for the main story and main characters, basic controller remapping, offline play, pausing and manual saving. Those are PlayStation Store descriptors, not confirmed universal features across every platform.

What has been remastered?
Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics describe higher-resolution textures, models and visual effects, along with performance improvements. The collection also adds an upgraded camera, a photo mode and a modern control scheme, while retaining classic controls. These are publisher-described changes; no independent performance measurements are established here.
Players can switch between the original and remastered visuals. That makes it possible to compare the updated presentation with the original look during play, rather than committing to one visual mode for the whole experience. The publisher’s feature announcement outlines the visual toggle and other remaster features.

What is the story and how does gameplay work?
The games follow Raziel, a former lieutenant of Kain who is betrayed and executed by his master, then resurrected to pursue revenge. Combat draws on Raziel’s claws, telekinetic bolts and the Wraith Blade, while progression involves consuming souls.
Exploration and puzzles revolve around shifting between the Spectral and Material Realms. Changing realms affects how Raziel moves through the world and interacts with obstacles, making realm-shifting central to both traversal and puzzle solving. Aspyr’s description outlines the premise and these gameplay systems.

The Lost Levels
Four explorable Lost Levels are included: Undercity, Smokestack, Retreat and Forges. They are preserved exploratory artifacts, not complete restored chapters of either campaign. Aspyr cautions that some areas may have missing textures or unfinished sections, so expect archival remnants rather than fully polished levels.
How much did it cost at launch?
Crystal Dynamics announced a $29.99 launch price. Store prices can vary by region and change over time, so that historical launch figure should not be treated as a current price. The launch announcement provides the announced price.
