LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a TT Games action-adventure that returns players to Gotham in an open-world story about Bruce Wayne becoming Batman. Warner Bros. Games lists a worldwide release date of May 22, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The game supports solo play and two-player local co-op, but not online co-op.
What is LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?
Developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Games, the game was announced with the LEGO Group and DC. Its original story follows Bruce Wayne’s journey to become Gotham City’s hero, drawing on Batman’s history in film, television, comics, and games while adding LEGO humor. The reveal announcement described that approach as incorporating “iconic moments from across Batman’s history with our special LEGO twist.” The LEGO Group’s August 19, 2025 announcement introduced the project and its story premise.

How the Gotham adventure is designed
Official descriptions frame the game as an open-world action-adventure rather than a level-only retelling. Its announced features include a new combat system, allies, vehicles, and a customizable Batcave. The Batcave provides a place to personalize, while the open-world structure centers the adventure on Gotham. These are publisher and developer descriptions; they do not establish how the combat feels in play or how large the world is.
When does it come out?
TT Games’ March 16, 2026 update gives May 22, 2026 as the worldwide launch date. Warner Bros. Games’ May 19, 2026 launch announcement says Deluxe Edition early access was available before the Standard Edition’s worldwide launch on May 22. Check the official listings for any territory-specific timing or edition changes.

Platforms and editions
The Warner Bros. Games FAQ lists four platform options. It lists Standard and Deluxe editions; the FAQ’s stated prices may change, so verify current pricing with the retailer or platform storefront before buying.

The FAQ does not detail the Legacy Collection DLC’s contents in the information cited here. Consult the live store listing for a full itemized edition description. Platform and edition details are in the WB Games Support FAQ.
Can you play co-op?
Yes, for two players sharing a console or local setup: the FAQ says the game supports solo play and two-player local co-op. It does not support online co-op. The FAQ also says a console subscription is not required to play. If your main reason to buy is playing with a friend remotely, the announced setup does not provide that option.

Are LEGO Batman sets required?
No. The game is a standalone purchase. Warner Bros. Games’ FAQ also names physical LEGO DC Batman sets that include associated in-game gold character variants, but those variants are an optional tie-in, not a gameplay requirement. Check the FAQ for the named sets and current availability before purchasing.
