There is no confirmed evidence that village leveling is currently impossible across LEGO Fortnite Odyssey. Reports of villages failing to gain XP date to December 2023; a matching May 2026 troubleshooting article does not establish that a new, widespread bug is active. If your village appears stuck, first determine whether a requirement is still unmet, the level display is wrong, or progression remains stalled after you reload the world.
Is village leveling currently broken?
The available reports do not establish a current game-wide outage or how many players may be affected. PiunikaWeb reported on December 21, 2023, that players had said their villages stopped earning XP or leveling after an update. The article also relayed that Fortnite support had told one player it had informed the team and was looking into the issue at that time. That is a historical, third-party account—not a current Epic status update. PiunikaWeb’s report

Its suggested checks may help narrow down an individual case, but the article does not demonstrate a fix or show that the symptom is widespread. The publication dates alone do not prove the bug lasted continuously or has returned. Position is Everything’s article

Work out what is actually stuck
Check which of these situations matches what you see before changing your world:
#1 Best Overall

- FORTNITE GIFT IDEA – The video game building set makes a great gift for teen girls and boys, or presents for Fortnite fans ages 12+
- A requirement is still pending: Open the village’s requirement panel and check what it says is needed for the next level. A village that has not met a listed requirement is different from one that cannot register progress.
- The displayed level may be wrong: A community-maintained update reference notes a village-level display correction in a recent update context. That makes a display problem worth considering, but it does not show that the historical XP complaint is active or that the two issues share a cause. Check the current official patch notes rather than treating the secondary note as proof. Community-maintained update reference
- Progression appears genuinely stalled: If the requirements appear satisfied but the level does not advance after leaving and rejoining the world, note the behavior and check whether it affects one village or more than one world.
How to narrow down a village progression problem
These are diagnostic checks suggested in the May 2026 troubleshooting article, not verified repairs. Record what happens at each step so you can tell whether the issue is limited to a particular village, world, or game version. Position is Everything’s troubleshooting suggestions
- Inspect the requirement panel. Write down the village level, the displayed requirements, and the action you expected to advance it. Capture a screenshot if the panel appears inconsistent with what you have completed.
- Fully leave and rejoin. Exit the world, then load it again and check whether the displayed level or progress changes. A restart that makes no difference is useful information, not proof of a particular cause.
- Compare scope. Check whether another village in the same world behaves differently. If practical, note whether the symptom also occurs in a separate, fresh world; do not delete your existing world to run this comparison.
- Record when it began and what changed. Note your platform, game version, world and biome, and any recent changes before the problem appeared. Compare the result before and after a full reload.
- Check current official updates and support. Look for current Epic patch notes or support information before concluding that the issue is a known live bug. If the behavior is reproducible, send support the details and screenshots or video.
Do Lumber Mills or rebuilding the Village Square fix it?
An older report relayed a player claim that crafting at Lumber Mills still granted XP, and a reader later suggested destroying and rebuilding the Village Square. Those are historical community tips, not official or guaranteed fixes; the available reporting does not validate either as advice for a current version.
