The 1,911-piece LEGO PlayStation set (72306) recreates the original console and its first controller as an adult display model. LEGO lists it at over 6 cm high, 26 cm wide and 19 cm deep, and describes the replica as near 1:1 scale. It also has tactile Open and Power buttons and two game-inspired mini-scenes hidden inside. Those features make it a detailed brick-built tribute—not a working PlayStation.
How big is the LEGO PlayStation set?
LEGO lists the assembled model at over 2.5 inches (6 cm) high, 10.5 inches (26 cm) wide and 7.5 inches (19 cm) deep. PlayStation’s announcement also calls the console replica near 1:1 scale and gives its width as 10.5 inches (26 cm). LEGO’s announcement and the PlayStation Blog announcement provide those specifications.
“Near 1:1” is the manufacturers’ description, not confirmation that every dimension exactly matches an original console. Sony’s corporate history identifies the original PlayStation as SCPH-1000 and dates it to 1994, but the cited history report does not give its physical dimensions. That means a precise, same-basis size comparison with original hardware cannot be made from these official figures alone.
What’s included in set 72306?
The console and controller
The main build recreates the grey silhouette of the original PlayStation, accompanied by a brick-built controller that plugs into the console. The controller is part of the model, not an electronic peripheral.

Functional buttons and hidden scenes
The model’s Open and Power buttons are tactile features. Opening the console reveals two small buildable scenes: a Gran Turismo-inspired mini track with tiny cars, and an Ape Escape-inspired scene featuring a recognizable red or blue monkey helmet. LEGO says the scenes can be tucked inside the console or removed and displayed beside it. PlayStation’s LEGO product page describes the replica and game-inspired scenes.
“Functional” refers to the model’s physical buttons and opening feature. The official product descriptions do not describe electronics, a working disc drive, playable games or a full game disc. This is a LEGO display build, not a console replacement.

How the LEGO model compares with the original PlayStation
| Feature | LEGO PlayStation (72306) | Original PlayStation |
|---|---|---|
| Reference | Brick-built replica described as near 1:1 scale by PlayStation. | Sony identifies the original as model SCPH-1000, dated to 1994. |
| Dimensions | Over 6 cm high × 26 cm wide × 19 cm deep, according to LEGO’s 2026 specifications. | Exact dimensions are not stated in the cited Sony corporate history report. |
| Controller | Brick-built controller plugs into the model. | The original was video-game hardware; the cited sources do not specify controller dimensions or other hardware details. |
| Interaction | Tactile Open and Power buttons; opening reveals buildable scenes. | Electronic console functionality; the cited sources here do not provide a feature-by-feature hardware comparison. |
| Included scenes | Gran Turismo- and Ape Escape-inspired mini-builds, storable inside or displayable alongside the model. | No LEGO-style mini-scenes are part of the original console. |
The comparison is strongest on the model’s listed size and recreated appearance. It should not be read as proof of a measured dimensional match: the LEGO dimensions are published, while a corresponding official measurement for SCPH-1000 is not established by the cited Sony source.

This set is for someone who wants to build and display a brick tribute to the first PlayStation, including recognizable hardware details and game-themed extras. It is not for someone seeking the original console’s electronics or a way to play its games. For an exact physical-size comparison, use a reliable measurement of the specific SCPH-1000 hardware revision and compare dimensions on the same basis; the available official figures do not supply that second measurement.
