Lenovo’s pre-launch figures for the Legion Y700 (2024) suggested near-60-FPS performance in several demanding Android-game categories. They were promotional, manufacturer-supplied results—not independent benchmarks—and the most demanding RPG figure used a lower internal render resolution than the tablet’s 2560×1600 panel.
What Lenovo claimed
The figures came from Lenovo promotional material reported on September 27, 2024, shortly before the tablet’s scheduled September 29 China launch. Lenovo did not name the games, graphics presets, test duration or measurement method.

These are Lenovo’s preliminary claims as reported by Gizmochina, not independently verified laboratory results.
Why the RPG resolution matters
The Y700’s display is natively 2560×1600, but Lenovo’s open-world RPG result used a 1728×1080 render resolution. Rendering fewer pixels can reduce GPU workload; the image may then be scaled to the panel. Therefore, 59.9 FPS at that setting is not evidence of 59.9 FPS at native resolution or maximum quality.

The reported “average FPS” also omits minimum frame rate, 1% lows, frame-time consistency, thermal throttling and test length. A short average can look strong while longer sessions produce dips.
Hardware behind the claim
Lenovo’s Chinese listings identify the Legion Y700 (2024) with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, an 8.8-inch 2560×1600 display and a 165Hz refresh rate. Listed configurations include 12GB RAM with 256GB storage and 16GB with 1TB; the listed battery capacity is 6,550mAh. The specifications and regional configuration details are on Lenovo’s 12GB/256GB listing and 16GB/1TB listing.
The Chinese listing describes USB-C connectivity including a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface, alongside a USB 2.0 interface description, and dual X-axis linear motors. Lenovo’s promotional material, as reported by Gizmochina, also described a vapor-chamber cooling system of approximately 10,004mm². That cooling design is intended to help sustain performance, but the announcement did not provide a sustained-load test proving how long the quoted frame rates lasted.

What games were tested?
Only broad categories were disclosed: 3D turn-based games, open-world RPGs and combat games. A promotional image appeared to resemble Genshin Impact, but that does not establish that Lenovo used Genshin Impact for the RPG measurement. The title, preset and other in-game settings were not identified.
Does a 165Hz screen mean 165 FPS?
No. The panel can refresh up to 165 times per second, which can make system animation and supported high-frame-rate games feel smoother and reduce perceived latency when the rest of the pipeline is fast enough. Lenovo’s published game results were approximately 60 FPS, however. A 165Hz panel is display capability, not proof that the tested games rendered at 165 FPS.
How to interpret the wattage figures
The 8.8W and 9.5W numbers may indicate efficient performance, but Lenovo did not define whether they represent whole-device consumption, platform power or another internal metric. Battery life cannot be calculated from those figures alone: brightness, radios, audio, software policy, thermal limits and the 6,550mAh battery all affect runtime.

How it should be compared with rival gaming tablets
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 also appeared in competing products such as the RedMagic Nova, including a higher-clock “Leading Version” variant mentioned in the launch coverage. Chipset branding alone does not establish which tablet is faster in games. Compare:
- sustained FPS, frame-time consistency and thermal throttling;
- native versus reduced render resolution and graphics settings;
- battery drain during long sessions;
- size, weight, controls and controller compatibility;
- software language, Google Play and regional firmware support;
- warranty, returns, storage expansion and total imported cost.
Launch timing and current availability
The product behind the original “upcoming tablet” report is the Lenovo Legion Y700 (2024), also marketed in some regions as a Legion Tab or third-generation compact Legion tablet. It launched in China in 2024, so it is no longer an upcoming device.

Lenovo’s current specification material separately identifies a Legion Tab 8.8 (3), dated March 12, 2026, with a 2560×1600, 165Hz display. That makes it the more relevant model to investigate for a current purchase, subject to local stock, price and support.
Verdict
The Legion Y700 (2024) had a compelling specification sheet and Lenovo claimed roughly 60 FPS across three demanding categories. The evidence does not establish universal maximum-settings performance: the RPG test used reduced render resolution, no games or presets were named, and no sustained or frame-time data was supplied. Treat the announcement as an encouraging performance target, not a substitute for independent testing or a guarantee for every Android game.
