The widely reviewed 2019 generation used Intel 9th-generation processors, GTX/RTX 20-series graphics and 52.5- or 57-Wh batteries. Lenovo China’s current 2025 model is a different 15.3-inch machine with an Intel Core Ultra processor, RTX 5060 graphics, a 60-Wh battery and a 1600p/180-Hz display. The older model delivered roughly four and a half to six hours in published light-use or video tests; an independent 2025 test measured 5 hours 18 minutes. Neither figure represents gaming runtime on battery.
Which Legion Y7000 is this review about?
Identify the year, processor, graphics chip, display and battery before comparing any review or listing. Lenovo reused the Y7000 family name across substantially different hardware, and specifications vary by region and SKU.

Battery life: good for a gaming laptop, but not a six-hour guarantee
The 2019 Legion Y7000 had unusually respectable endurance for its period. Published results span about 4 hours 28 minutes to slightly more than six hours because reviewers used different battery capacities, brightness levels, graphics configurations and workloads.

Lenovo’s own MobileMark figures were lower and configuration-dependent: one 2019 PSREF lists 3.8 hours for a GTX 1660 Ti model and 3.4 hours for an RTX 2060 model. These are not interchangeable with web-browsing or video-loop results.
For the 2019 generation, the defensible conclusion is roughly four and a half to six hours of light use or video playback. Gaming on battery should not approach those numbers.
What changed in the 2025 Y7000?
The 2025 model is a modern China-market design rather than a refresh of the 2019 chassis. Lenovo documents a Core Ultra 7 255HX, 16 GB of memory, 1 TB storage, RTX 5060 graphics, a 15.3-inch 2560×1600 180-Hz panel and approximately 2,000 g weight. The official page lists a price of ¥10,499 on its July 23, 2026 update; that is a China price, not a current US retail price.

Notebookcheck lists a 60-Wh battery. Tech X Reviews measured 5 hours 18 minutes and considered the battery relatively small for this performance class. Lenovo’s product page claims more than six hours of gaming battery life, but it does not publish methodology that makes the claim directly comparable with independent tests.
Check the machine’s model number: Lenovo’s page identifies the processor as Core Ultra 7 255HX, while the independent review unit was identified as Core Ultra 7 155HX. Treat those as different configurations until verified.
2019 Y7000 design, screen and everyday hardware
The original model weighed approximately 2.3 kg (5.07 lb) and used a PC/ABS plastic chassis with a numeric keypad and red LED keyboard backlight. Ports and hardware included Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 2.0, Mini DisplayPort 1.4, USB-A and USB-C with DisplayPort output. The webcam was a fixed-focus 720p unit in the bottom bezel, an awkward angle that reviewers criticized.

Display choices matter
Both 60-Hz and 144-Hz 15.6-inch 1080p IPS panels were sold. Lenovo’s higher-end 144-Hz option was rated at 300 nits and 72% color gamut; lower configurations could use a 250-nit, 45%-gamut 60-Hz panel. A listing that merely says “Y7000 1080p” does not identify the panel quality.
2025 Y7000 display, camera and upgradeability
The newer laptop uses a 16:10 15.3-inch 2560×1600 panel running at 180 Hz with 100% sRGB coverage. Its webcam is top-mounted and includes an electronic privacy shutter, so the 2019 model’s bottom-bezel camera criticism does not apply.

A teardown of the tested 2025 unit found two SODIMM slots and two M.2 2280 SSD slots. It shipped with one 16-GB DDR5-5600 module and a 1-TB 2242-length SSD. Lenovo lists 140-W USB-C charging and 170-W/245-W adapter options, depending on configuration.

Performance and fan noise
There is no single “Y7000 performance” result. A 2019 GTX 1650 or GTX 1660 Ti machine is an older 1080p gaming laptop; an RTX 2060 version is faster but remains a 2019-generation GPU. PCWorld described its GTX 1060-class configuration as no longer especially future-proof.
For the 2025 unit tested by Tech X Reviews, combined CPU/GPU stress reached approximately 45 dB in balanced high-performance mode and 47 dB in overclock mode. Overclock mode was louder and hotter, and the reviewer observed power-distribution instability during that test. Those figures apply only to that configuration and mode.
Using Lenovo Vantage to manage charging
- Open Start > Lenovo Vantage, or search Windows for “Lenovo Vantage,” as described in Lenovo’s Y7000 user guide.
- Open Power > Battery Settings.
- Enable the available charge-protection option, which may be called Conservation Mode, Smart Charge or a similar label.
Lenovo says Conservation Mode generally holds the battery around 75–80% instead of charging to 100%. Menu names and available controls vary by model and Vantage version.

- Open Device Manager > System devices.
- Look for Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller.
- If it is absent, install the appropriate ACPI driver from Lenovo Support, following Lenovo’s support procedure.
Verdict: is the Legion Y7000 good for battery life?
2019 Y7000: Yes, relative to gaming laptops of its generation. Expect roughly 4.5–6 hours in published light-use or video tests, with much shorter gaming endurance. Verify whether the unit has a 52.5- or 57-Wh battery, which display it uses and which NVIDIA GPU is installed.
2025 Y7000: It is a different, China-market 1600p/180-Hz laptop with a Core Ultra processor, RTX 5060 and 60-Wh battery. The independent 5-hour-18-minute result is respectable for a high-performance gaming laptop but not exceptional. Confirm the exact CPU SKU and regional warranty before buying.
