Lenovo reportedly defended the Legion Go 2’s premium price by describing it as an enthusiast handheld built with costly components, and pointed buyers looking for a more affordable option to the Legion Go S. That response comes from an IFA group interview reported by Windows Central; its English rendering of Lenovo’s comments was translated with Microsoft Copilot and was not fully human-verified.
What Lenovo reportedly said about the price
Windows Central reported that an interviewer asked whether a European starting price of €999 would be acceptable to users. Lenovo’s reported answer framed the Legion Go 2 as a device for “enthusiast” gamers “willing to invest in their hobbies,” rather than a value-focused handheld aimed at everyone.
The article reproduces this English rendering of Lenovo’s explanation: “The fact is, the Legion Go 2 uses high-performance processors, an OLED display, detachable controllers, and an ergonomically designed body – all of which are expensive components.” Windows Central says Microsoft Copilot translated the statement and cautions that some context may not have carried over accurately; the English text was not fully checked by a human. It should therefore be read as a reported translation, not a verified verbatim original-language quotation.
Lenovo’s reported suggestion for buyers seeking a less expensive option was: “For those seeking a more affordable option, we offer the Legion Go S series.” Windows Central provides the same translation caveat for this wording.

Which features Lenovo cited—and what the product page lists
The component rationale in the reported response points to the processor, screen, detachable controls and ergonomic design. Lenovo’s US product page describes the Legion Go Gen 2 as an 8.8-inch handheld with a 144Hz OLED display and VRR, detachable Legion TrueStrike controllers and a 74Wh battery; listed configurations go up to an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent evidence that any one feature accounts for a particular share of the price.
What the published prices do—and do not—tell buyers
Prices vary by market and model, and the available figures should not be treated as one universal current price.

| Model or market | Published price or availability | What it establishes |

| Legion Go 2, Ukraine | Starting at UAH 49,999, in Lenovo Ukraine’s announcement dated January 30, 2026 | A Ukraine-specific announced starting price, not a price for other markets or proof of the current local selling price. Lenovo Ukraine |
| Legion Go 2, United States | Lenovo’s US product page says “Available Soon”; it does not establish a current US transaction price | Availability wording on the manufacturer’s page, not a confirmed sale date or price. Lenovo US |

The €999 figure in the interview question is a European price point discussed by the interviewer, not evidence that Lenovo confirmed a price at that level for every configuration or market. The Ukraine starting price and the US product-page status cannot be used to infer a current US checkout price.
Is the Legion Go 2 worth its premium?
That depends on whether its particular hardware and design matter enough to you to justify the price available in your market. The cited specifications give a useful starting point for evaluating the device, but they do not establish a value verdict: that requires comparing the exact local price and configuration against alternatives with equivalent processor, memory and storage, display, battery, controls, operating system and availability.
